シアトルに戻って以来、煙に町中がすっぽりと包まれていて、楽しみとしている夕日を見ることも叶いません。
そんな徒然を感じていた今宵、太陽よりも明るくそして美しいお嬢さんがおいでくださって、私どもの心を照らしてくれました。
サクッと焼きうどんを手作りして私たちに振る舞ってくれて後は、これも手作りによるブルーベリーパイをデザートにいただきました。
このブルーベリーは野生のものから採集したものです。
徹底したヴィーガンの彼らの作る食品はどれも健康的に優れて、安心していただくことができます。
今週いっぱいはまだまだ煙に覆われた日々が続くことでしょう。
この高台でサンセットヨガができるのはいつの日になることやら。
Since I returned to Seattle, the smoke has completely enveloped the whole city and we can't see the sunset I was looking forward to.
This evening, a young lady, brighter than the sun and beautiful, came to light up our hearts.
She prepared and served us some fried udon noodles and then we were treated to a blueberry pie for dessert.
These blueberries were collected from the wild.
They are thoroughly vegan and all of the food they make is excellent and healthy and safe to eat.
There will still be a lot of smoke in the air throughout the week.
I wonder when we'll be able to do sunset yoga on there.
店舗内にあってはマスク着用が義務付けられ、外に出ると霧灰で息苦しくマスクをつけざるを得ない状態です。
人々はますます外出を控え、いつもなら駐車場となるベイエリアのハイウェイもラッシュアワーと言うのにスムーズな流れ。
数日前は州間ハイウェイの高速5号線がオレゴンで山火事のために一時閉鎖されたとのニュースを聞く。
さらに家人からこの閉鎖が週末いっぱいまで続けられるとのTwitter記事が送られてきた。
おいおい、ついにワシントン州に帰れなくなってしまったジャーン
日曜礼拝の配信はオンラインでしているのでホテルからできなくは無い。
それでも数日間を有効に使えなくなるような気がして心が騒ぐ。
しかし現在も山火事の現場で消火活動に当たっている消防隊の皆様は、不眠不休で作業に当たっておられる。
家族のもとに帰れない彼らと比べたら、私の境遇なんてなんとも軽微なものか。
、、、そんな細々のことが心に去来している中で約10分後、再び家人からメッセージ。
「ちょっと待ってこのTwitterメッセージは過去の記事のものでした」
よく見ると確かにそれは2018年9月の記事だった。
2年前にも同様の山火事が同時期にあって、その時は5号線が完全に週末の数日間、閉鎖されたんですね。
明日の朝食後サンフランシスコ発ち、シアトルに向かいます。
今回は飛行機ではなく単独での自動車運転です。
片道の所要時間は休憩2時間を入れて、約14時間です。
こちらに来る14時間の中で「ヒヤリ」が1回だけありました。
十分な休憩を挟みながら無理なく運転が続けられるようにお祈りいただけるとうれしいです。
さらに5号線が閉鎖されない事はもちろんですが、現在強制避難に直面しているオレゴン州の50万人の方々の生命と家屋が守られるようにお祈りください。
米国西海岸の山火事が収まりません。
今のところ火が燃えているのは森林地帯ですが、その煙が都市部にまで押し寄せています。
本日ベイエリアに移動しましたがここの空も不気味な黄色に閉ざされています。
そしてオレゴン州のある一帯では本日、50万人の住民に対して避難命令が下されました。これは強制的な退去命令ですべての住民が家屋や家畜を残して避難しなくてはならないのです。
一方、5日間のキャンプを終えた娘からはその写真が送られてきました。
ワシントンの山奥では今もこのような青空が見えるようです。
早いところこの場所を切り上げて、空気の綺麗な山奥に避難したいものです。
いつもなら青い空に乾ききった風、地上の楽園を思わせるようなSacramentoですが、今回ばかりは異なります。
灰色と黄色の混ざったようなどんよりとした雲に世界は覆われ、常に吹き荒れる風には黄色い砂塵を巻き上げています。
カルフォルニアのあちこちで発生している山火事の煙が運悪く風に乗せられて此処にまで届いているのだそうです。
楽園から世の末を思わせるような豹変ぶり。
いつもシアトルの夕日を見て心洗われている者には、なんとも厳しい現実。しかしこれも現実世界の一端に過ぎません。
目の前の世界が楽園でも荒廃していても、私たち自身の命をそこに預けているのでは無いのです。
やがて受け継ぐ世界、そして確かな存在がわたし自身のうちにある限り、永遠の家へ向けられた足取りに狂いはありません。
今日はタイミングが合いませんでしたか、明日にはMikuniレストランに伺います。
この数ヶ月間暴徒によって何度もガラスが割られ、お店の中を破壊され、机や椅子まで盗まれた試練の中をくぐり抜けて来られたレストランです。

Normally the Sacramento seems like a paradise on earth, with blue skies and dry winds, but this time it's different.
The world is shrouded in a cloudy mix of gray and yellow, and the constant winds blowing in a yellow dust.
The smoke from California's many wildfires is unluckily being carried by the wind to this place.
A change from paradise to the end of the world.
It's a harsh reality for me who have always been purified by watching the Seattle sunsets.But this is just one part of the real world.
Even if the world in front of us is a paradise or a desolation, we don't owe our own lives to it.
As long as I have the world to inherit and a certainty of existence within me, my steps will be consistent heading to my eternal home.

This is the restaurant that has gone through an ordeal of broken glass, vandalism, theft of desks and chairs, such many tribulations over the last few months by rioters.

ベルビューにあるトヨタ販売店へ愛車の定期点検を受けに行きました。通常なら1週間以上先でないと予約が取れないのに、今回は数日前にしかも好きな時間帯に予約が取れました。
毎年レイバーデーウィークエンドは販売促進時期となり、金利 0%キャンペーンをしているはずです。
もちろんコロナ禍のせいでしょう。
今回は新車コーナーも閑散としています。
セールスマンは声をかけて来ません。
いやセールスマン自体がもういないのかもしれません。
米国の景気動向は新車の販売台数によって読み取ることができます。不動産市場のモーゲイジ金利は、2.5%を切って、歴史的な低空状態です。それなら新車販売も金利ゼロとしてこんな不振な時こそ販売促進にかけたら良いと思うのですが。
今日の夕陽も美しく染まりました。
今日の日がどんなに不振でまた挫折の中にあったとしても、
明日には明日の太陽がまた昇ることを告げているような豪華さです。

摂氏34度まで記録した猛暑日はこの夏、1日しかありませんでした。その日だけ自室にいてエアコンが欲しいと感じましたが、それ以外は必要を感じたことありません。

コロナウィルス感染の結果が出ました。
先日その検査キットを届けてもらって綿棒で鼻の中を数秒間擦っただけの簡単な検査です。
数分もあれば終わってしまうその検査。
結果もウェブサイトにアクセスして知ることができました。
ネガティブ、つまり異常なしと言うものです。
予想した通りとは言え安心しました。
これまでにもせきや鼻水の症状がありましたが単なる風邪だったようです。
今週の北カルフォルニアに続いて、来週からロサンゼルスを含む南カリフォルニアでも小売業の再会が始まるとの連絡が届きました。
5カ月間以上も強制ロックダウンされてビジネスが全くできない中、多くの小売ビジネスでは経済的にはもちろん精神的にも厳しかったことでしょう。
実は2ヶ月ほど前、ビジネスが再開されたカルフォルニアでわずか1〜2週間後に再閉鎖されたことがありました。感染者数がうなぎ登りに登ってしまったが故です。
薄氷を踏む思いでのビジネス再開です。
昨日の夕日は、水平線上に分厚い雲が複雑に入り組んだ形を作っていました。こんな時は日没からしばらく経ち、太陽がオリンピック山脈の遥か向こう水平線上に沈む光を放つ頃が最も見頃となります。20分から30分後に赤赤と西の空が赤く染まって行きました。
長い間待たされたビジネス再開です。

落ち込んだ以上のものを今後は努力と創意工夫で挽回していきたいものです。

I got the results of a coronavirus infection.
I got that test kit delivered to me the other day and it's a simple test that involves rubbing the inside of my nose with a cotton swab for a few seconds.
It only takes a few minutes to do that test.
The results were also available by accessing the website.
Negative, that is to say, it's clear.
I was relieved, even though it was what I expected.
I've had symptoms of coughing and sniffling in the past, but it was just a cold.
Following Northern California this week, we received word that the retail shops will begin to reopen next week in Southern California, including Los Angeles.
With no business at all after being in a mandatory lockdown for more than five months, it must have been a tough time for many retail businesses, not to mention the economy.

森の中を今日も散策しました。
大抵新しいルート選ぶのですが、今回選んだルートは途中で柵が設けられて通行禁止となっていました。
柵を乗り越えられなくは無いですが、無理強いする事はありません。
別のルートを選びそれを楽しみました。
歩くこと自体が目的の山道です。
どこを通っても、基本的に景色は同じ。
私どもの行く道がブロックされたとて、慌てる事はありません。
「これが俺の行く道だ」と言って自我に固執する事は愚かなことです。
押してみてうまくいかないときは、
引いてみたら良いかと思います。
今日の夕焼けは昨日と比べると、紅の色が一段と増して鮮やかさが際立っていました。
同じ太陽からの光線ですが、その色合いについては光線自体が決定することはできません。
決定権は周囲の雲にあります。
その分厚さや配置などによって夕日の色合いが変わります。
私たちそれぞれもその置かれている時代や環境、関係している人々によって、創造者から受ける光を反映しているのかもしれません。

We went for another walk in the forest today.
We usually choose a new route, but the route we chose this time was fenced off on the way.
It is not impossible to get over the fence, but there is no need to force it.
We chose another route and enjoyed it.
It's our purpose to walk itself in a mountain path.
Wherever we go, the views are basically the same.
We don't panic that our path is blocked.
It is foolish to cling to your ego, saying, "This is the path I'm on.”
If you try to push and it doesn't work,
I think it's a good idea to pull it off.
Today's sunset was much brighter and more vivid in its red color than yesterday's.
The rays of light are from the same sun, but the rays themselves cannot determine their color.
The decision lies with the surrounding clouds.
Their thickness and placement will change the hue of the sunset.
Each of us may also reflect the light we receive from our creator, depending on the time and environment we are in and the people involved.
