オレゴン州にはワシントン州のような50%の顧客入店制限がないと聞いてやってきました。ところが同様の制約がいたるところにあって困惑してしまいます。
まずほとんどのレストランはテイクアウトオーダーのみの対応です。たまに入店できるところもありますが、テーブルは1つおきに空席とせねばならず、がらんとしています。
さぞ店内が混み合っていると思いきや、ほとんど客がいないのは皆さんコロナを怖がって外出しないのだそうです。
個人店舗の入店の際の制約はそれぞれです。
ある所では検温とマスクが義務付けられ、さらに名前や携帯電話番号も書かされました。
ゆるいところでは1つだけでしたが、マスクもなしに入店でき、皆さんもマスクしていない所がありました。
夕食にと思って立ち寄ったビーバートンの宇和島屋には長蛇の列が入り口にできていました。これが入店人数を一定数以下に保つためです。これを見て私は引き返しました。
ホテルに3日滞在してもルームサービスがないのでフロントに寄ってお願いしたところ、このコロナウィルスのせいでルームサービスはしないとの事が先週から始まったそうです。シーツや新しいタオルをもらい、それらを自分で設置しました。
多くの人が必要以上に警戒してるように思えてなりません。私が無頓着なのかな〜？
I came to hear that Oregon doesn't have a 50% customer entry limit like Washington State does. However, I'm confused by similar restrictions everywhere.
First of all, most restaurants only take out orders. There are a few places where you can go in, but the tables have to be vacated next to customers.
I thought it was going to be crowded inside, but there were hardly any customers because they were all afraid of the corona.
There are different restrictions on entering private stores.
Some require you to take a temperature test and a mask, and you also have to write your name and cell phone number.
There was only one loose one, you can go in without a mask and you can't see anyone wearing mask there.
Uwajimaya in Beaverton, where I stopped for dinner, and there was a long line at the entrance. This is to keep the number of people entering the shop below a certain number. Seeing this, I turned back.
After three days at the hotel, there was no room service, so I stopped by the front desk to ask for it. Due to the coronavirus, they started last week that they will not be doing room service. I got sheets and new towels and set those up myself.
It doesn't seem like a lot of people are being more vigilant than they should be.
Otherwise am I being careless?

今日も寿司をグローサリーでピックアップし宿舎で夕食をとる。こんな時味噌汁は必需品なのでインスタントのものを日系グローサリーで調達した。
自宅にいるときには決してインスタントのものやテイクアウトのものは口にしない。
私以外の家族はだれも味噌汁を飲まないが、1人分だけを鰹節から出汁を取ってシアトルの友人が手作りした味噌を味わっている。
少し手を加えるだけで味はともかく健康な食品を摂取できるのなら手間を省く理由がない。
日本のコンビニが誇る弁当だってMSGのオンパレード。
化学薬品で生体を蝕むのは御免被りたい。
自宅から離れた今、そんなスタンスを保ち付けることはできない。テイクアウトの寿司に味噌汁をいただけないなんて事はありえないので、止む無くインスタント味噌汁を数年ぶりに口にした。
夕食をとりながら、人はその置かれている時代環境によって理解や行動に制約がかかることを改めて気づきました。
かつて日本には戦国時代にカトリシズムがもたらされキリシタン人口が爆発的に伸びた時代がありました。
純真な聖書的キリスト教に、カトリシズムの作った「おまけ」キリスト教が付随していて、その部分に固執しているキリシタンたちをどこか上から目線で見ていた自分に気づいたのです。
当時日本はもちろんヨーロッパ社会であっても自らの国言葉で聖書を読むということは不可能でした。
それならば信者は教会が教えてくれる教理を鵜呑みにするしかなく、そこには神ではなく人を崇めることや、聖書ではなく律法の行いによって救いを勝ち取ろうとする偽の福音に流される事はやむを得ないことであったのでしょう。
純正の福音情報源が身近になければ、人はその閉ざされた霧の中でようやく見える、教えらる範囲内で生きる他なかったのです。
十分な啓示を与えられている現在の私たちが、制約の中にいた過去の人たちを見下すことがあったとしたら、それは傲慢であると言う思いに至っています。
インスタント味噌汁ですか？
やはり塩気が強く味が濃いですね。最初の口当たりは良くてもすぐに飽きてしまいます。
これなら白湯だけをスープにしたほうがよかったです。
I picked up sushi at the grocery store and had a dinner at a hotel. In such a case, miso soup is a necessity, so I bought instant miso soup at the Japanese grocery store.
When I'm at home, I never eat instant miso soup or take-out food.
No one else in my family drinks miso soup but me, still I take the broth from katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) and served it with homemade miso made by my friend in Seattle.
With a little work, there's no reason to avoid the trouble when you can make healthy food, also enjoying it’s better taste.
Japan's convenience stores are proud of their bento boxes, but they are also full of MSG.
I don't want to be exposed to chemicals by those food.
Now that I'm away from home, I can't maintain such a stance. There's no way I can't have takeout sushi with miso soup, so I had to settle for instant I hadn't tasted miso soup in years.
Over dinner, I realized that people are limited in their understanding and behavior by the historical environment in which they are placed.
Once upon a time, Japan was in the Warring States period (1467-1568) when Catholicism was introduced and the Christian population exploded.
The pure biblical Christianity, accompanied by the "extra" Christianity created by Catholicism, and I realized that I had been looking down on these Christians who were fixated on the non essential Doctrines from a somewhat superior perspective.
At that time, reading the Bible in one's own language was impossible in Japan, or even in European society.
Then the believer has to take the doctrine taught by the church, and that's where the person, not God, is Admired, and spreads a false gospel that seeks to win salvation by the deeds of the law, not by faith and grace. This must have been unavoidable in the limited access to the genuine gospel teaching.
Without a genuine source of gospel information close at hand, one can finally see and be taught in that closed fog. We had no choice but to live within the range.
We in the present, given sufficient revelation, may look down on those in the past who were within the constraints. If so, I've come to the conclusion that it would be arrogant.
Instant miso soup?
It's still very salty and strong tasting. The first mouthfeel is good, but you get tired of it soon.
It would have been better to use only the hot water as the soup.

1666年にあったロンドン大火では4日間市内の木造家屋を燃やし続けた結果、その約9割が灰になったと言われます。しかもその前年にはベストの大流行が重なっていて8万人ほどの死者が出ていたらしい。
「泣きっ面に蜂」とはこのことで、とんだ災難が続いたものです。その後の復興計画においては木造建築が禁止され、広い道路と下水道が整備されて、近代都市誕生の礎を築いたと知れば「災い転じて福となす」の句も思い出されます。この後約100年後に産業革命をいち早く完成させる英国では、その大英帝国の首都拠点として機能するための大改造ともなったのでした。
そのロンドン大火から約9年ほど前の1657年には、江戸で明暦の大火がありました。家康以来から続く古い密集した下町においてはその全てが、市街全体では6割が灰となり、天守閣を含めた江戸城のほとんどが焼失されました。江戸においてもこの後、耐火構造を考慮してのまちづくりが進められて行きます。
まず江戸城天守閣再建案は、庶民の暮らしを再建することが先であるとして幕府は再建を見送ります。
道幅をうんと広くしたり、屋根の向きを同一方向に統一することによって出火の際は延焼防止のため倒壊しやすくしました。
こんなことなどを想起したのは、今日東京都知事選挙の結果の報道に接したからです。
コロナ禍で経済活動が境地に陥っている東京において、庶民の暮らしを真っ先に考えるリーダーが選ばれたのでしょうか。10年先、いや数10年先を見通した大構想をビジョンするリーダーを選んでくれたのでしょうか。
その結果を聞いて大いに戸惑ったり、55%と言う投票率の低さ、人々の関心のなさに驚いたり。
そんな複雑な感情をワシントン湖畔に燦燦と注ぐ爽やかな陽光の中で抱いていました。
あまりに東京は遠く、またその世相の厳しさが今日の湖畔の平穏さと相容れないものでした。
「ええ〜イ、どうにでもなれ〜イ べらんめい」ってな江戸弁を吐いてみたくなったのは、その乖離の甚だしさのせいにしておきます。

In the old dense downtown area, which had been established since Ieyasu, was all destroyed and 60% of the entire city was destroyed in the fires. Most of Edo Castle, including the castle tower, was destroyed by fire. After this, Edo City began to build a fireproof city.
First, the shogunate decided not to rebuild the Edo Castle in order to keep on the grounds that it was necessary to rebuild the lives of the common people first. You should make the streets wide and the roofs facing the same direction to prevent the spread of fire.
By widening the road and unifying the roofs in the same direction, the fire may be prevented from spreading. This made it easier to collapse.
I was reminded of this today when I came across the results of the Tokyo government election.
In Tokyo, where economic activity has been plunged into a state of crisis due to the corona crisis, did you have elected a leader who cares first and foremost about the lives of ordinary people? Do you have chosen the leader with a big vision that looks 10 years, or even decades, into the future?
I was greatly puzzled by the results, and surprised at the low turnout of 55%, and the lack of interest people had in .
I had mixed emotions as I basked in the glorious, refreshing sunshine on the shores of Lake Washington, a place so far away from Tokyo and so harsh there that it was hard to reconcile it with the peace of today's lakeside atmosphere.
I would like to say this in old form of Tokyo dialect, whatever let it be done.
I'll blame it on the enormity of the divergence between here and Tokyo.

「変貌の山」
聖書箇所: ルカの福音書 9章28～36節
"これらのことを教えてから八日ほどして、イエスはペテロとヨハネとヤコブを連れて、祈るために山に登られた。
祈っておられると、その御顔の様子が変わり、その衣は白く光り輝いた。
そして、見よ、二人の人がイエスと語り合っていた。それはモーセとエリヤで、
栄光のうちに現れ、イエスがエルサレムで遂げようとしておられる最期について、話していたのであった。
ペテロと仲間たちは眠くてたまらなかったが、はっきり目が覚めると、イエスの栄光と、イエスと一緒に立っている二人の人が見えた。
この二人がイエスと別れようとしたとき、ペテロがイエスに言った。「先生。私たちがここにいることはすばらしいことです。幕屋を三つ造りましょう。一つはあなたのために、一つはモーセのために、一つはエリヤのために。」ペテロは自分の言っていることが分かっていなかった。
ペテロがこう言っているうちに、雲がわき起こって彼らをおおった。彼らが雲の中に入ると、弟子たちは恐ろしくなった。
すると雲の中から言う声がした。「これはわたしの選んだ子。彼の言うことを聞け。」
この声がしたとき、そこに見えたのはイエスだけであった。弟子たちは沈黙を守り、当時は自分たちの見たことをいっさい、だれにも話さなかった。"

祈りは外界を離れ主の顕現と臨在とに触れる場である。

高い山に登ることをそこで神と交わることを学んでいこう。栄光の主と接する毎に私たちは変えられていく。やがて日常生活の話題がルーティンではなくゴールに向けたものと変えられるまで。

本日7月4日は言わずと知れた米国独立記念日で休日です。
先ほどは日の入りを迎え現在は夜10時前。
家の周囲から盛んに花火を打ち上げるけたたましい音が聞こえてきます。
飲食店でのパーティーや大掛かりな集まりはどこもできないのですが、それぞれの家庭で花火を打ち上げてるんでしょうね。米国人にとってこのお祝いだけは自粛することは出来ないようで、本当に絶え間なく耳をつんざくような爆音が聞こえています。
自由と平等そして人権の尊重は、独立宣言が発せられた数百年前からの米国の最も尊重する価値観とされてきました。
もっともこの天来とされる普遍的な価値観は、当時の白人だけの間に認められたものでありNative Americanや黒人には適用されなかった事は承知の事実です。
その後歴史の進展に伴い人々の良識にも改変が加えられて今や人種民族にかかわりなくすべての人と共有できる価値観なはずです。
「はずです」と書いたのは、人々の深い意識の部分でそうでは無いところが露出して社会問題となっている昨今の世相を感じてのことです。
長く培われてきた伝統を理想的な価値観をして一挙に覆すことはできません。それでも良識ある人々は戦っています。
たった今耳に届く花火の爆音は、かつて人々が英国から勝ち取った普遍的価値観をこの国の全ての人々に広げていこうとする産みの苦しみのように聞こえて来ます。
Happy Birthday America!
Today, July 4th is a holiday on the famous American Independence Day, as it is known.
The sun has just set and it's now just before 10pm.
We can hear the thunderous sound of fireworks going off around our house.
None of us are able to have parties at restaurants or large gatherings, but each family has its own fireworks display. They must be launching it. It seems that for Americans, this celebration is the thing they can't refrain from doing, and there is really a constant earworm, deafening explosion.
Liberty, equality and respect for human rights are among the most cherished American values since the Declaration of Independence was issued hundreds of years ago. It was considered to be a core value as humans.
These universal values, which are considered to be innate, were accepted and admitted only by white people of the time. It is a fact that it did not apply to Native Americans or blacks.
Later, as history progressed, people's common sense was altered, and nowadays, all people, regardless of race or ethnicity, should have the right to share these values equally.
I wrote "should" because it exposes people's deepest consciousness where they aren't, and reflects the current state of affairs in the world.
Long-established traditions cannot be overturned by idealistic values in one fell swoop. Nevertheless, sensible people are fighting.
The explosion of fireworks that is just now reaching my ears is a reminder that the universal values that people once won from Britain, are for all who is living in this country. It sounds like the birth pangs of trying to spread to all.
昨日は「天のところ」と言う表現がエペソ書に5回あることを紹介しました。
天においては、天使も悪霊もいる、そしてキリストが神の右の座に座しておられる。そこにあるすべての霊的祝福が私たちに与えられている。
これらのことを教えてくれている聖句でした。
なるほどなぁ〜と、そのありがたい恵みを感謝し受け取る事が出来ます。ところが理解しがたいのが2章6節にある次の御言葉ではないでしょうか。
"神はまた、キリスト・イエスにあって、私たちをともによみがえらせ、ともに天上に座らせてくださいました。" (エペソ人への手紙 2章6節)
ここで注目したい語句がこれです。
συνεκάθισενν (synekathisen) — 「共に座らせた」。
新約聖書ではエペソ書のここにしか出てこない語句です。少々文法的に込み入ったことを言って恐縮なのですが、この聖句の動詞はアオリスト形でしかも直接法が使われています。すると現在形とか未来形ではなく、単純過去形や現在完了形として理解され訳さなくてはならないものなのです。
「キリストとともに天のところに座す」と言う特権は、私たちが過去においても現時点においても経験できるものではありません。これはキリストが再び地上においでになられて(再臨と言います)、新しい世界を創出された時に、復活した聖徒たちに与えられる特権であり地位なのです。すなわち将来に属することであり私たちに与えられたありがたい恵みの約束なのですが、どうして過去形として語られているのでしょうか。
世界の創造者は、時間に拘束されるお方ではありません。
神が言われたことゆえ、語られた約束ゆえにそれはすでに時間を超越して成就・完了したものとして語られる場合があります。旧約聖書においてもその預言者たちが神の約束を語るときに、過去形や完了形で既にその預言の事柄が起こったこととして語られる場合が多く見出されます。
つまり神の視点からは既に成就しているので、過去形として書かれているのです。
この地上生涯において信者は時に迫害や不条理なところを通らねばならないことがあるでしょう。その困難の後にやがてキリストと同じ特権に預かることができると確約されているのを知ればどんな試練をも耐える力となります。
同じことが次の黙示録では人間の視点に立って与えられている約束の言葉です。人にとっては将来に属する約束ですので未来形で記されています。
"勝利を得る者を、わたしとともにわたしの座に着かせる。それは、わたしが勝利を得て、わたしの父とともに父の御座に着いたのと同じである。"
(ヨハネの黙示録 3章21節)
δώσω αὐτῷ καθίσαι 〜「彼に座らせる事を与えるであろう」(未来形・直接法)
ἐκάθισα〜「(父の御座に)着いた」(アオリスト形・直接法)
ここでキリストが私達と共に勝利の座に着かせると言っておられる部分は、将来に属することです。そしてキリストご自身が十字架と復活による勝利を得た後に父なる神と共に御座に着かれたのは、過去のことです。
今日の夕陽もまた素晴らしいものでした。
まるで明日が来ることを約束してくれているかのようです。
明日は7月4日で米国の独立記念日です。
その先日の今日、先ほど家族とともに集ってお祝いをしました。女性陣が天ぷらを作ってくれたのです。
その中でも娘が自身の畑で育てたズッキーニの花を天ぷらにしたものが絶品でした。絶妙な苦味が口の中に広がって何とも言えない味わいでした。
Yesterday I mentioned that the expression " heavenly realms " is found five times in the book of Ephesians.
In heaven there are angels and demons, and Christ is seated at the right hand of God. All spiritual blessings there are given to us.
These were the scriptures that taught us such a blessing.
I see...and we can appreciate and receive that grateful blessing. However, I think the hardest part to understand is the following verse in this book 2:6
"God has also raised us up together in Christ Jesus, and made us sit together in heaven." (Ephesians 2:6)
The word I want to focus on here is this.
συνεκάθισεν (synekathisen) - "made them sit together".
It's a phrase that only occurs here in the New Testament in Ephesians. Forgive me for being a bit grammatically complicated, but the verb in this verse is aorist and indicative form.
Then it must be understood and translated as simple past tense or present perfect tense, not present or future tense.
The privilege of being "seated in heaven with Christ" is NOT something we have had in the past or at the present time. This is the time when Christ will come to earth again (called the Second Coming) and create a new world. It is a privilege and a status given to the resurrected saints. So it belongs to the future, and it's a promise of grateful grace given to us, but Why is it spoken of in the past tense?
The Creator of the world is not bound by time as human.
Because of what God has said, because of the promises He has spoken, it has already been timelessly fulfilled and completed. It may be spoken of as in the Old Testament, when its prophets spoke of God's promises, they were already speaking of them in the past tense and the perfect tense. We find many cases where events are spoken of as having happened in the Old Testament.
That is, from God's point of view they are written in the past tense because they have already been fulfilled.
There are times in this earthly life when the believer have to go through persecution and absurdity . Knowing that after all that trouble, we are assured that we will soon be entrusted with the same privileges as Christ. It will be the strength to endure any trial.
The same is the word of promise given from a human perspective in the next verse in Revelation. It is written in the future tense because it is a promise that belongs to the future for man.
"He who gains the victory shall be seated with me on my throne. It is the same as I have obtained the victory and have sit at the Father's throne with My Father."
(Revelation 3:21)
δώσω καθίσαι - "I will give to seat" (future tense, indicative method)
ἐκάθισα ~ "I have sit (at the throne of my father)" (aorist form, direct method).
The part here where Christ says he will let believers sit in victory with him belongs to the future. And Christ Himself was seated with God the Father after His victory on the cross and resurrection that belongs to the past.
Today's sunset was also spectacular.
It's like a promise of what tomorrow will bring.
Tomorrow is the 4th of July, which is America's Independence Day.
One day earlier today, we got together with my family to celebrate it. The ladies made tempura for us.
One of the best tempura dishes was made from zucchini flowers that my daughter grew in her own garden. It had an indescribable taste with a perfect bitterness that spread in my mouth.
ἐπουρανίοις (epouraniois) 〜エポウーラノイス：「天の所」
新約聖書のエペソ書においてこの語句が5回使われています。
そしてその神的な領域である「天のところ」にあっては、何が存在して、それがどのような状態にあるのか、私たちとの関わりにおいて関連することなどが啓示されてあります。
①「天にある」すべての霊的な祝福が私たちのものとなっている。
"神はキリストにあって、天上にあるすべての霊的祝福をもって私たちを祝福してくださいました。"(1章3節)
②復活されたキリストは「天のところ」で父なる神の右の座に着座されておられる。
"この大能の力を神はキリストのうちに働かせて、キリストを死者の中からよみがえらせ、天上でご自分の右の座に着かせて、"(1章20節)
③その右の座とは、私たち信者もキリストとともに座しているのだという。
"神はまた、キリスト・イエスにあって、私たちをともによみがえらせ、ともに天上に座らせてくださいました。"(2章6節)
④その「天のところ」には天使の勢力らが存在している場である。
"これは、今、天上にある支配と権威に、教会を通して神のきわめて豊かな知恵が知らされるためであり、"(3章10節)
⑤またそこには悪霊も存在している場である。
"私たちの格闘は血肉に対するものではなく、支配、力、この暗闇の世界の支配者たち、また天上にいるもろもろの悪霊に対するものです。"(6章12節)
地上においては見ることができない、「天の所」とはいかなる場であるのかをこうして聖書から教えられます。
そこには天使もいる、悪霊もいる、そしてキリストが諸々のそれらの勢力よりも高い父なる神の右の座に座しておられ、そこに私たち信者も共に座す資格を得たのだと。さらに、そこに存在している全ての祝福で私たちが祝されているのだと言うのです。溢れるばかりの恵みがすでに私たちにあったのです。
今晩は日の入りの約1時間ほど前にいつもの展望台にやってきました。
すると今まで見ることのできなかった美しい空の様体が現れていました。充分に明るい太陽光線は、雲の作る空模様の造形を日の入りの赤みだけとは異なる栄光に仕上げてくれていました。
ἐπουρανίοις (uranois) - : "the heavenly place”
Five times in the New Testament at the book of Ephesians this phrase is used.
And in that divine realm of the "heavenly places," what exists and what state it is in, also these passages tells us of the revelation of what is in and relevant in relation to us, etc.
(1) All spiritual blessings "in heaven" are ours.
"God has blessed us in Christ with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places." (1:3)
(2) The resurrected Christ is seated at the right hand of God the Father "in the heavenly places".
"This great power God has put to work in Christ, that He might raise Him from the dead, and in the heavenly realms and put Him on His right hand seat in "(1:20)
(3) That right hand seat means that we believers are also seated with Christ.
"God has also raised us up together in Christ Jesus, and made us sit together in heavenly places He gave me." (2:6)
(4) In that "heavenly place" is the place where the angelic powers are present.
"This is the place where the very rich wisdom of God is now made known to the rulers and authorities in heaven, through the church”
(3:10)
(5) It is also a place where evil spirits are present.
"Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against dominion, against power, against the rulers of this dark world, and It is against all the evil spirits that are in heaven." (6:12)
This is how the Bible tells us what kind of place is the "heavenly place" that cannot be seen on earth. We are taught only being revealed by these sections.
There are angels there, there are demons, and there is God the Father who is higher than all those forces, and Christ is higher than all those forces. He says that He is seated on the right hand seat and that we believers are qualified to sit there with Him. He goes on to say that we are celebrated with all the blessings that are present there. The overflowing grace was already upon us.
Tonight, about an hour or so before sunset, we came to our usual lookout point.
There was a beautiful sky. Bright enough sunshine made the sky's patterned shapes of clouds into a glory which is different from the blush of sunset alone.

今日のシアトルの日の入りはご覧の通りに厚い雲に閉ざされ夕日自体を見ることができませんでした。
この時期の日本の梅雨空を思わせるような見事な雨雲が空一面に広がっています。南のタコマ方面ではさらに黒い雲の層に覆われていて、おそらく雨が降っていることと思われます。
私のいる所ではほんの霧雨が日中降ったに過ぎません。
シアトルの雨季は冬ですので、この時期に雨が降らなくても心配は要らないのです。
世界的な異常気象が至るところで頻発してる昨今です。
永久平土に覆われている北極圏のシベリアが先日38度の高温を記録したそうです。
さらにアフリカ東岸部を荒らしまわったバッタの群れがアラビア海を越えてインドに上陸し、農作物への甚大な被害が出ているとのことです。
今年の日本の梅雨はどうでしょうか。
局地的豪雨による土砂災害で被害を受けるところがないよう祈るばかりです。一方雨が降らなくても水不足を心配し、農作物への影響もまた心配です。

今日も子供らとともに近所にある森林公園を散歩しました。
鳥のさえずりに耳を傾けながらそれに呼応するように小唄を歌いながら歩きました。
帰宅すると小腹が減っていたので早速娘がクッキーを焼いてくれました。さらにヴィーガン食の夕食までさっさと用意してくれたんです。余ったクッキーはメッセージを添えて私に持たせてくれました。
ワシントン州では未だ営業と言う事はできませんが、こうやって家族と触れ合うことによって与えられる幸せがあります。それを私は、「オキシトシン的幸福」と名付けています。これは他者との結びつきを深めることによって得られる安心感やぬくもりの感情、そして充足感をもたらす脳内ホルモンです。
他方仕事での成果や業績、昇進、金銭的獲得や名声などのいわゆる社会的成功によって得られる幸福感を「ドーパミン的幸福」と呼んでいます。
我々日本人は第二次大戦の敗戦以降から高度経済成長時代までこのドーパミン的幸福を追求して来たように思います。
「24時間働けますか」というモーレツ社員に勧めるエナジードリンクのコマーシャルがその価値観を代表していました。
バブルがはじけ誰もが成長を望めない時代となって、あの東日本大震災が起こりました。そこで私たちは価値観の変革が迫られ、「絆」を見直し始めたのです。
つまりドーパミン的幸福からオキシトシン的幸福への目覚めがあったといえます。
しかし長年社会で受け入れられまた家族で培われた価値観は一昼夜で変える事は難しいものです。そこで日々「セロトニン的幸福」を体験することによって正しい方向付けのできる基盤を得るのです。
それは昨日も書きましたが朝に太陽浴びることによって得られる脳内伝達物質であり、その時には前向きな自己肯定感が与えられ、自信や適応力を持って穏やかな気分を得るのです。
このセロトニン的幸福を維持するために最近企業ではヨガや瞑想、またマインドフルネスと言う活動を推奨しているところがあります。
我々クリスチャンにとってこのセロトニン的幸福を体験するのは神の前に静まり、聖書の御言葉によって神の私へのメッセージを聴きとると言う営みと言えましょう。
家族を養うと言う責任を感じている男性諸君にとってこのドーパミン的幸福しか知らないとしたら、このコロナ時代をどうやって生き延びていけるでしょうか。
今こそセロトニン的幸福とオキシトシン的幸福があることへの目が開かれていきたいのです。
今日の夕日は日輪の沈むところは完全に雲に閉ざされていました。
よってそこから光を見いだすことは出来なかったのですが、少し離れたところには雲の切れ目があり、その隙間からは赤い光線が輝き出ていました。
人にとっての幸福は、成果を上げて自分自身を証明することではありません。豊臣秀吉は臨終の床で「難波の事は夢のまた夢」と詠みました。何ができるできないにかかわらず、既にあなた自身を世界の創造者が証明して受容しておられることを知ることです。
そして受容されている者同士が深く結び合うことによって得られる安きがあります。
"わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、あなたがたも互いに愛し合うこと、これがわたしの戒めです。"
ヨハネの福音書 15章12節
We still can't restart most of business in Washington state, but we are able to focus on getting in touch with our families.
There is a happiness that can be given. I call it "oxytocinous happiness". This is the feeling of security, warmth, and contentment that comes from deepening our connection with others. It is a brain hormone that brings these feeling.
On the other hand, it's gained through so-called social successes such as job performance, achievements, promotions, financial gain and fame. I call this sense of happiness "dopaminergic happiness".
We Japanese have pursued this dopaminergic happiness from the time of our defeat in World War II to the era of rapid economic growth.
There was a commercial for an energy drink that asks a devoted employee, "Can you work 24 hours a day?”
It represented a value of this dopaminergic happiness.
When the economic bubble burst and no one could hope for growth, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. That's when we were forced to change our values, and we began to rethink our "bonds".
In other words, there was an awakening from dopamine happiness to oxytocin happiness.
However, the values that have been accepted by society and cultivated by families over the years cannot be changed in a single night. . So by experiencing "serotoninous happiness" on a daily basis, you get the foundation for the right direction.
It's a transmitter in the brain, as I wrote yesterday, that you can get by exposing yourself to the sun in the morning. This hormone can give you a positive self-affirmation and a feeling of calm with confidence and adaptability.
In order to maintain this serotoninous well-being, companies have recently started using yoga, meditation and also mindfulness, which are recommended activities to their employees.
For us Christians, experiencing this serotoninous well-being is to be stilled before God, and by the Word of the Bible You could say that you are listening to God's message personally to yourself.
If only dopaminergic well-being you may look for as responsible men for providing for your families, and if it is the only happiness you have ever known, then how will you survive this corona age ?
Now is the time to open our eyes to the fact that there is serotonin happiness and oxytocin happiness.
Today's sunset was completely occluded by clouds where the sun was setting.
So I couldn't see any light from there, but at some distance there was a break in the clouds. There was, and red rays of light shone out of the gaps.
Happiness for a person is not about proving oneself by achievement. On his deathbed, Toyotomi Hideyoshi wrote a poem saying, "The matter of Namba is just another dream.”
Regardless of what you can and cannot do, you have already been proven and accepted by the creator of the world to be yourself. And there is a peace that comes from the deepest union between those who are accepted.
"As I have loved you, so you shall love one another, this is my commandment is."
