How to Troubleshoot When Emails Don’t Arrive

When an email doesn’t arrive, it can be confusing to figure out where to start troubleshooting. Here are some basic steps to help you identify the issue.

1. Check Your Internet Connection
First, make sure your computer or smartphone is properly connected to the internet. You don't need to check this via email. Instead, open a web browser (like Chrome or Safari) and try accessing a website like Google. If the page loads, your internet connection is likely working fine.

2. Check Your Email Client and Server Connection
Next, confirm that your email client (like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird) works correctly and communicates with the mail server. You can check this in the following ways:

  • Send an email to yourself:
  • If the email arrives, both sending and receiving are likely working properly. If it doesn’t, there may be an issue somewhere in the process.
  • Send an email to yourself from an external source:
  • Use an external service like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail to send a test email to yourself. If it doesn't arrive, the issue is likely the receiving side (your email service).

3. Restart Your Computer
Temporary software glitches or connection issues can sometimes prevent sending or receiving emails. Try shutting down your computer and then restarting it. After the restart, perform the same tests again (sending from yourself or from an external source).

4. If the Problem Still Persists
If your internet is working fine but emails still don’t arrive, there might be a problem with your email server. At this point, it’s best to conclude the situation is beyond your control and to contact your provider or system administrator for help.

Playing by the Rules

スレッド
U.S. Immigration and Customs E... U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Playing by the Rules

When it comes to immigration, I’ve noticed something interesting: the people who often dislike illegal immigration the most are those of us who came to the United States legally. I say this from personal experience. I went through the process, followed the requirements, and earned the right to stay here. It wasn’t always easy—it took time, patience, paperwork, and a commitment to do things by the book.

That’s why it feels so unfair when others try to bypass the rules. Imagine playing a game where you follow every rule, make every move carefully, and put in the effort to win honestly. Now imagine watching someone else cut corners, break the rules, and still walk away with the prize. That doesn’t just feel wrong—it undermines the very idea of fairness.

Immigration to the U.S. is a privilege, not a shortcut. Those of us who respected the system understand the value of doing it right. We know the sacrifices it takes, and because of that, we also understand why the rules matter. If we allow cheating, it diminishes the hard work and commitment of everyone who did it properly.

At the end of the day, the frustration isn’t about wanting to exclude people. It’s about respect—respect for the law, respect for the system, and respect for everyone who played the game the right way.

This is where Pacific Software...
I started Pacific Software Publishing, Inc. in 1987, in a small apartment at Show Wood Apartments in Mercer Island, Washington. This photo was not taken back then, but much later when I visited the same building again. Standing there brought back a flood of memories.

When I first started the company, I honestly didn’t know if it would last even a year. Like many entrepreneurs, I had more questions than answers. All I had was an idea, a willingness to work hard, and a determination to keep moving forward no matter what.

Looking back now, it’s humbling to realize how far things have come from that tiny apartment room. What started as an uncertain venture has grown into a company that has lasted decades, serving customers both in the U.S. and Japan.

Do you have a problem with Japanese public figures visiting Shinto shrines where all the fallen soldiers are enshrined? Most of those resting there were ordinary people like us, driven into war by the radical imperial government of Japan at that time.

In Japan, this is often considered taboo because of the sentiments tied to war narratives that have been heavily promoted by China, Korea, and the radical left. But it is my opinin.

Bob Ferguson
Governor of Washington

clo Office of the General Counsel
416 14th Avenue S.W.

Olympia, WA 98504

Dear Governor Ferguson,

‘The United States has a long history of cooperation with state and local law enforcement
agencies, including for immigration enforcement. Such cooperation is vital to enforce federal law
and protect national security. Recognizing that need, Congress has codified the duty of states and
local governments to cooperate in immigration enforcement efforts.

For too long, so-called sanctuary jurisdiction policies have undermined this necessary
cooperation and obstructed federal immigration enforcement, giving aliens cover to perpetrate
crimes in our communities and evade the immigration consequences that federal law requires.

Under President Trump’s leadership, full cooperation by state and local governments in
immigration enforcement efforts is a top priority. To ensure such cooperation, the President has
directed the Attorney General of the United States, in coordination with the Secretary of
Homeland Security, to identify sanctuary jurisdictions and notify them of their unlawful
sanctuary status and potential violations of federal law. Additionally, the President directed
federal agencies to identify and evaluate their statutory authority to issue grants, contracts, and
federal funds, to determine where immigration-related terms and conditions may be added to
combat sanctuary policies that violate federal immigration law. See Executive Order 14,287,
Protecting American Communities from Criminal Aliens, 90 Fed. Reg. 18761 (April 28, 2025).
‘As contemplated by the Executive Order, designation as a sanctuary jurisdiction may result in
additional consequences and further agency actions as permitted by law. See id.

As the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, I am committed to identifying
state and local laws, policies, and practices that facilitate violations of federal immigration laws
or impede lawful federal immigration operations, and taking legal action to challenge such laws,
policies, or practices. Individuals operating under the color of law, using their official position to
obstruct federal immigration enforcement efforts and facilitating or inducing illegal immigration
may be subject to criminal charges. As such, I have instructed that all litigating components of
the Department and each U.S. Attorney’s Office shall investigate incidents involving any such
potential unlawful conduct and shall, where supported by the evidence, prosecute violations of
federal laws such as 8 U.S.C. § 1324, 18 U.S.C. § 371, 18 U.S.C. § 1071, and 18 U.S.C. § 1505.
State and local entities, particularly those with policies in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1373 and

Letter to Bob Ferguson Page 2
Governor of Washington

§ 1644, may also be subject to civil liability.
Further, pursuant to President Trump's directive in Executive Order 14,287, the

Department has compiled a list of sanctuary jurisdictions.’ This list is based on a review of laws,
policies, and practices of the identified jurisdictions.

You are hereby notified that your jurisdiction has been identified as one that engages in
sanctuary policies and practices that thwart federal immigration enforcement to the detriment of
the interests of the United States. This ends now. By Tuesday, August 19 , please submit a
response to this letter that confirms your commitment to complying with federal law and
identifies the immediate initiatives you are taking to eliminate laws, policies, and practices that
impede federal immigration enforcement. This letter does not constitute final agency action and
nothing in this letter creates any right or benefit enforceable at law against the United States,

Sincerely,

Have You Thought About Turning...
Have You Thought About Turning Your Products Into a Subscription?

First, take your products or services and turn them into a clear, well-defined package. Make it simple for customers to understand exactly what they’re getting, how much it costs, and how it benefits them.

Once you have that package, you’re in a perfect position to offer it as a subscription. This model not only makes it easier for customers to buy, but it also gives your business a predictable, recurring revenue stream. It’s a powerful way to build stability, scale, and long-term relationships with your customers.

Have you thought about doing that? Sometimes the shift from one-time sales to subscriptions is the difference between a business that’s always chasing the next deal and one that grows steadily year after year.

For example:

>>> A web design service can package hosting, maintenance, and updates into a monthly plan.

>>> A coaching business can package sessions, resources, and ongoing support into a subscription model.

>>> A product-based business can bundle consumables or seasonal items into a monthly delivery.

The key is to package your offering in a way that customers can easily commit to — and keep coming back for — without needing to make a new purchasing decision every time.

Something to Think About / The Dunning–Kruger Effect in Politics

The Dunning–Kruger effect is when people with little knowledge overestimate their ability, while experts often underestimate theirs. Politics makes this bias easy to see.

Complex issues like healthcare, the economy, and foreign policy require deep study and nuanced thinking. Yet, some people — after hearing a few headlines or social media posts — speak with absolute certainty. Their confidence comes from not knowing what they don’t know.

At rallies or online, bold, simple statements (“We just need to do X!”) spread quickly because they are easy to understand. In contrast, experts sound less decisive because they recognize complexity and potential trade-offs.

This creates a dangerous dynamic: confidence gets mistaken for competence, and oversimplified solutions dominate public debate. The effect reminds us to question loud certainty and value those willing to acknowledge uncertainty — often a sign of deeper understanding.

Minimum wages can hurt young people’s growth into productive members of society.
Most young people have little understanding of how the real world works. They learn by experiencing it — and entry-level jobs are one of the best ways to gain that experience. Unfortunately, high minimum wages can eliminate those opportunities, making it harder for young people to get their first job and start learning.

I understand that the government wants to ensure everyone earns a living wage. However, when you first start working, you’re not yet making a significant contribution to the company. In many ways, you’re there to learn, much like being in school — except instead of paying a teacher, the company is paying you.

For that reason, I believe there should be no minimum wage requirement for students or others who are still in the early stages of learning and building their skills.
