Yamahiro Seito Squat Toilet

Yamahiro Seito Squat Toilet
I`ve never seen this logo before. Actually, I`ve never paid attention to squat toilet logos before. One reason is the position; normally when you use a squat toilet, you can`t see this part of the toilet, right?
According to a blog* about toilets in Aichi Prefecture (nice hobby! lol), the Yamahiro Ceramic Company was founded in 1925 in Seto City, and was still around in 1974, but may not exist anymore.

English Language Point:
- I`ve never... = I`ve never...before (私は。。。したことがない)

Fukusho Temple Woodblock Print

Sunglasses for Buddha
When my son and I were in Komaki, we tried to recreate a funny photo we had seen online. It was tricky. I had to stand on 2 cinder blocks, next to a grave, holding my smartphone above my head. Maybe some drivers were watching me. My son said, "Dad, please hurry up..." lol

English Language Point:
cinder block/concrete block =コンクリート建築ブロック
レンガ = brick (レンガは英語ではないです)

Chevrolet Impala
Last month I went for a bicycle ride with my daughter in Ichinomiya. We saw this (1964?) Chevrolet Impala. We took a picture of it, then when we got home, my daughter painted a picture of it on a postcard. We sent the postcard to my friend. Does he like old cars? I don`t know.

English Point:
- take a picture/photo = 写真を撮る

S.S.S. Fountain Ink Pen Bottle
I found this nice bottle on an empty lot. The writing on it says 'S.S.S. Fountain Pen Ink'. According to this blog [ seaglass.ashibee.net/t/?cid=51208 ]  the サンエス ('San-S' = 'Three S`s') company began in 1920. However I don`t know the exact age of this bottle. It`s nice, isn`t it?

English Point:

Drinkiing fountain: 水飲み場

One of my hobbies is bottle-digging. This is one bottle that I found in a bamboo forest recently. I like the cool retro Morinaga Co. logo on the bottom. One of the fun things about finding unusual bottles is researching them online. However I couldn`t find out what this bottle used to contain. Maybe 甘酒 (sweet sake)? Do you know? Please tell me!

English Point:
One of… ___s.
One ____.

Frog Blog

Frog Blog
My kids said they wanted to catch some frogs, so I said okay. However, they caught too many, so I told them to release a few.

What do you think of frogs? I don`t mind them, but my colleague said she hates them. She said when she was young , she came home and there was a frog on the door, so she couldn`t open it, so she rang the doorbell until her mum came, and she told her mum to open the door. lol.

Tom Yum Gai

Tom Yum Gai
Do you know the dish 'Tom Yum Goong'? 'Goong' means 'shrimp' in Thai. However, I don`t like* shrimp, so when I lived in Thailand, I asked restaurant cooks to use 'gai' (chicken) instead of 'goong'. This is an unusual request in Thailand. However, I found this 'Tom Yum Gai' packet curry in the supermarket, so maybe a lot of people are like** me, and prefer chicken to shrimp.

Grammar
* (don`t) like __ = _が好き(ではない)
** am/are/is (not) like __ = _のように(_のようではない)
