【その後の病状報告②】
2回目の専門医の診察を本日終えました。
この病院はシアトルダウンタウンにあり、
その診療室は足首を専門としているところです。
結論から言うと今度の医師は
手術の必要は無いと助言してくださり
私もその考えを尊重することにしました。
最初の医師は
早期回復とより完璧な回復のためには
手術が必要であると勧めてきたのです。
医師によって言うことが違うものです。
どちらの言うことがより真実かという事は
素人には分かりません。
保険が使用できる今回の病院のお世話になるのですから
そこの医師の助言を聞き入れることにしたと言うことです。
そこの医師によれば
手術した場合とそうでない場合とでは
回復期間も
またの回復の達成度にも
大した違いは無いとの事。
違いがあるとすれば
再度アキレス腱を切る可能性が
2%か4%ほどの違いとのことです。
これで手術でふくらはぎを切り裂かなくて済むと知って
安心しました。
さらに今後の治療工程が明確となったのも
安心できる大きな要因す。
今後は2週間おきにギブスを取り替えるため
この病院を訪れることになります。
その他には特段、薬を処方されているわけではありませんし
治療やマッサージを受けるわけではありません。
いわゆる自然療法と言うものですね。
アキレス腱が再結合するに従って
つま先を上方向に固定するために
角度調整せねばならず
そのためギブスを取り替える必要があるだけです。
ギブスをお世話してくださる技師の方が
「ギブスは何色にしますか〜
赤、紫、青、緑、黒、白などがありますよ〜」
そう言ってくれたのには驚きました。
日本では白しかないですよね。
ギブスの色も患者が選ぶことができるだなんて
個性を大事にしてくれているアメリカ社会らしい。
今回は緑を選ぶことにしました。
「それはこれからの季節にとてもマッチしているわね〜。
ピンクを選ばなかったのは正解よ」
と言って自ら先に笑いながら
私を笑わせてくれます。
ピンクの選択肢なんてないのに
わざとそんなこと言いながらとにかく笑い話をしてくれるのも
アメリカらしいところ。
それでは次回は赤色のギブスにしちゃおっかな？
この日も病院を後にしてから魔女の家に寄り
おやつや夕食をご馳走になりました。
この魔女の笑顔とおもてなしに預かることが
最大の治療効果をもたらしてくれそうです。
皆様方の祈りもまた効果的面です。
I finished my second visit to the specialist today.
This hospital is located in downtown Seattle.
The office specializes in ankles and feet.
As it turns out, the doctor this time advised me
that surgery is not necessary.
I decided to respect his opinion.
The first doctor recommended
that surgery is necessary for a quicker and more complete recovery.
Different doctors say different things.
It is impossible for a layman to know which is more true.
Since I will be under the care of a hospital that accepts my insurance,
I have decided to listen to the advice of the doctor there.
According to the doctor, there is a no difference in Recovery time
And the degree of recovery achieved between surgery and non-surgery.
If there is a difference, it is the possibility of tearing the Achilles tendon again.
The difference is between about 2% and 4%.
I was relieved to know that I would not have to tear my calf in surgery.
More than that knowing the truck I should trace is another big factor in my relief.
From now on, I will visit this hospital every two weeks to replace the cast.
Other than that, I have not been prescribed any medication.
I don't receive any treatment or massage.
It's what we call natural therapy.

This is why the cast needs to be replaced.
The technician who took care of my cast asked me;
"What color do you want your cast to be?
We have red, purple, blue, green, black, and white.”
I was surprised to hear her say that.
In Japan, only white is available.
I was surprised that the patient could choose the color of the cast.
It's just like the American society that values individuality.
This time I decided to choose green.
“It's very appropriate for the coming season.
It's a good thing you didn't choose pink.”
She said, laughing first.
It makes me laugh.
There is no pink option.
It's a very American thing to say something like that
on purpose and make us laugh anyway.
Maybe I'll get a red cast next time.
After leaving the hospital that day, I stopped by the witch's house.
I was treated to snacks and dinner.
The witch's smile and hospitality seems to bring the greatest therapeutic effect.
