Love Hotel

The term “Love Hotel” refers to a type of hotel where you rent a room based on hours. It is a very common type of hotel in Japan. However, in the United States of America, there is no custom to rent a hotel room based on hours. In addition to the Love Hotels, there are not many “so-called” Capsule Hotels nor Saunas with sleeping rooms in the US. When I worked in Japan, if I had to stay late and I missed the last train, I used to go to the sauna and stay all night there.

I think there are needs for Love Hotels, Capsule Hotels and Saunas with sleeping facilities in the US. Especially when hotel prices are so high. I stayed a night at a Sauna because it was cheaper than a hotel and also cheaper than taking a taxi. They are also clean and quiet.

If I have the chance, I would like to bring these hotels to the US.

Guilt

In the judicial community, you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. However, in the business world this is not the case. You are guilty until you have proven otherwise. If you are a business owner or in upper management, you really should know this.

When your company is accused of something, your first instinct is to tell the world that you have done nothing wrong. You should not do that. Instead, you should say: “we are now investigating *whatever you are accused of* and we will cooperate with experts to get to the bottom of this”.

You have not said you are guilty but you have not said you are innocent either. By saying that you are actively seeking the truth, you put yourself in the same position as people who are curious to know as well. Also when you announce that you will be working with your accusers, you present yourself as more selfless.

I am talking about crisis management, it is not that difficult. Just do not say you are innocent until you, along with others, have found that to be true.

How Do You Become An Expert?

There are many experts in the world, especially when it comes to business. There are many so called “experts” who are willing to teach you how to “Manage People”, “Manage Time”, “Manage Marketing”, “Manage Projects”, “Manage …”. You can hire any of them to HELP you manage anything, but when do you become an expert? At what point can you say you don’t need them any more?

The answer is NEVER. It is like public road construction projects, it is not designed to end. There is always something new. Rules change, people change, perceptions change and needs change. So you will never become enough of an expert to say “I don’t need them any more”.

Can you conduct business without those experts? Yes, but it will end up costing you more. For instance, you will never do your book keeping and tax preparation without an Accountant and CPA. You will never go to court without having your Lawyer. You will not negotiate building permits without having an Architect.

So, are you not an expert in anything? No, you are an expert in the field you are in. Your job is to make sure you understand what you are an expert of and sell your expertise. Basically, you cannot be an expert of everything. Just find what you are an expert of and hope that it is an expertise that people need.
