In 2016 (8 years ago), the minimum wage for Washington State was $9.47. Effective January 1, 2024, the state of Washington's minimum wage increased to $16.28 per hour.
This marks a 72% increase over the span of 8 years. It's debatable whether inflation caused the wage increase or if the wage increase led to inflation. Are you happy with 72% increase or were you better off 8 years ago. However, it's worth noting that simply raising minimum wages doesn't solve poverty.
