Lunch "Nabeyaku Udon"

Lunch "Nabeyaku Udon"
Today, I went to I Love Sushi in Bellevue for lunch. Because of my dietary restrictions after kidney surgery, I can’t eat any raw fish—everything I order has to be cooked. So, I decided on Nabeyaku Udon, a comforting Japanese hot pot-style noodle soup.

The udon itself was hearty and satisfying, and I enjoyed the warmth of the dish. However, the broth was a little too salty for my current low-salt diet. It reminded me how even traditional Japanese dishes, while healthy in many ways, can sometimes be challenging when salt intake has to be carefully managed.

Still, it was a pleasant meal and a nice reminder that even with dietary restrictions, there are always good options to enjoy.

We had visitors from Japanese University

We had visitors from Japanese ...
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming 18 students from Yasuda University in Hiroshima, Japan. They are currently studying at the University of Washington as part of a summer program, and their visit to our office was one of the cultural experiences included in their stay in the United States.

For many of them, this was their first time visiting an American business environment, and it offered a unique opportunity to see how companies operate here compared to Japan. We enjoyed sharing our work, answering their questions, and learning about their perspectives as students. Encounters like these are always special because they not only provide an educational experience for the students but also give us a chance to connect with the next generation of young professionals from Japan.

We hope their time in Seattle and the broader U.S. will leave them with lasting memories and inspire them in their future studies and careers. It was a great honor to host them, and we look forward to welcoming more students in the future.

Ken Uchikura Newsletter Vol. 351 How to Troubleshoot When Emails Don’t Arrive

スレッド
Ken Uchikura Ne...

How to Troubleshoot When Emails Don’t Arrive

When an email doesn’t arrive, it can be confusing to figure out where to start troubleshooting. Here are some basic steps to help you identify the issue.

1. Check Your Internet Connection
First, make sure your computer or smartphone is properly connected to the internet. You don't need to check this via email. Instead, open a web browser (like Chrome or Safari) and try accessing a website like Google. If the page loads, your internet connection is likely working fine.

2. Check Your Email Client and Server Connection
Next, confirm that your email client (like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird) works correctly and communicates with the mail server. You can check this in the following ways:

  • Send an email to yourself:
  • If the email arrives, both sending and receiving are likely working properly. If it doesn’t, there may be an issue somewhere in the process.
  • Send an email to yourself from an external source:
  • Use an external service like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail to send a test email to yourself. If it doesn't arrive, the issue is likely the receiving side (your email service).

3. Restart Your Computer
Temporary software glitches or connection issues can sometimes prevent sending or receiving emails. Try shutting down your computer and then restarting it. After the restart, perform the same tests again (sending from yourself or from an external source).

4. If the Problem Still Persists
If your internet is working fine but emails still don’t arrive, there might be a problem with your email server. At this point, it’s best to conclude the situation is beyond your control and to contact your provider or system administrator for help.
