Dream

People change many things in the pursuit of their dreams. They break up their relationships in hope to better themselves. Many times you need to move away from the old to create something new. The transition is not always smooth.

It is as if you are changing the way you are driving on a freeway. You can change course but you will never know if the course you choose is better for you in the long run. Unfortunately, with your dreams, there is no such thing as a navigation system that you can find on your smartphone.

People will never learn anything if they do not experience things themselves. However foolish we think the decision is, you have to let people do what they choose to do. I am talking about life decisions, not business decisions.

Businesses cannot rely on one person or a group of people. You as a business owner must create a system to go on even when the key person leaves, even if the key person is yourself. The dream must be bigger than you or your company.

New Normal ... Online Meeting

It is a new normal to conduct company meeting online. It is not same as face-to-face meeting but it is not too bad as we are getting used to this type of meeting. But, every decision seems to be slower to make with online. But this is the norm for a while.

One thing that is almost impossible is to hire new people. I guess hiring will be freezes for a while.

146,682 Pictures in Apple Photos/iCloud

As you can see, I have 146,682 photos stored inside Apple Photos in the iCloud Storage. I have been having problem with this could service. I really do not trust the stability of this service.

This is something I would love to build at Pacific Software Publishing, Inc. as a another service.

First Car Wash since March 15

Today, I was able to go to car wash and wash my car at Brown Bear Car Wash. The last time I did car wash was March 15. It felt really well. It is a small step but we are on the road to recovery.

I washed my car and my company car today.

Full Metal Alchemist

Have you ever watch the anime called "Full Metal Alchemist" If you have you have heard of the term "Equivalent Exchange" many times.

"Alchemy, It is the scientific technique of understanding the structure of matter, decomposing it, and then reconstructing it. If performed skillfully, it is even possible to create gold out of lead. However, as it is a science, there are some natural principles in place. Only one thing can be created from something else of a certain mass. This is the Principle of Equivalent Exchange.

This is what they call "Equivalent Exchange". But in the world where we live, there is no such things as "Equivalent Exchange". I will explain this in the future newsmail.

Why does NYC has 250 Times COVIDE Death Than Tokyo.

Tokyo has more people than NYC ... So why do people die 250 times more in NYC compare to Tokyo. I wondered about this.

I think China is reporting Corona Deaths with something else to cover the actual damage. NYC might be doing the complete opposite for money. I really hope that is not the case.

Hairyo
配慮 (Pronounced Hairyo) is a Japanese word for paying attention to your surroundings and making a decision based on the consideration to others. This means when you are trying to do something, you think about the reaction of others before you do it. If there is a possible negative reaction, you try to proactively inform those who may be affected.

This applies to every business decision. One example I can provide is when we upgrade our applications running on our servers. Although it is to make our service better, it does require the service to be down for a short amount of time. We try to inform customers that the service will be unavailable during the upgrade.

By informing your customers before the event takes place, you avoid upsetting them - this is “Hairyo”. The key is communication, and a point I really emphasize to my staff. We always need to make sure we communicate well with our customers. I really hope our staff reads this newsletter.

Do you want to go back to where it was?

In response to COVID-19, many of us closed our office and move to remote work. But companies like us are fortunate. Some of businesses had close the doors permanently. As a business owner myself, I have no word to say to those people who lost their business.

But now we are facing another challenge. As society starting to get back to normal, we are faced with big transitions of working from to commuting to work everyday.

If the work you have done at home produced same result as working from the office, why should anyone go back to the way it was. That is the new challenges we will be facing in near future.
