I was watching the news in Japan, and I learned that UNIQLO is suing the Chinese retail company SHEIN in Japan for copying one of their products. Curious about SHEIN, a brand unfamiliar to me, I decided to search for it on Google. To my surprise, I discovered that SHEIN has an online retail presence in the United States as well.
The SHEIN website (
https://us.shein.com/) was founded in Nanjing, China, in October 2008, initially as ZZKKO by entrepreneur Chris Xu. Over the years, SHEIN has evolved into the world's largest fashion retailer as of 2022. One of the key factors contributing to their success is their competitive pricing strategy.
Interestingly, I've noticed an increasing number of advertisements for TEMU (
https://www.temu.com). It appears to be another venture by a Chinese business aiming to enter the retail sector instead of remaining solely as a wholesale OEM/ODM supplier. The evolution of Chinese companies into the retail market seems to be a noteworthy trend.
