We call B&B "Henro-yado."
I've not stayed it yet.
Was it modern?

The  84-year-old man  is great!
I wanted to see him in Yashima.

1 night we stayed in a business hotel, 2 nights we stayed in minshuku/henro-yado. I took these pictures of my 2 minshuku rooms. They are traditional Japanese style - not modern, but comfortable, with new TVs, so I could watch the Rakuten v Giants baseball games! In my experience, minshuku owners are always very kind & friendly, so I enjoy staying at them.
