Alone in the Office / Time to Think

スレッド
Quiet Time at PSPinc Quiet Time at PSPinc
I come to the office every Saturday (that is if I am not playing golf) and Sunday afternoon to sit in my office and just goof around. But it is an important time for me to think about new products and business ideas. The company is doing well so that I don't really have to do any day-to-day operations. But it is very important to think about what it is we will be doing in three to five years.

Currently I am experimenting with

Frankentosh ... Mac Mini SSD Upgrade

Frankentosh ... Mac Mini SSD ... Frankentosh ... Mac Mini SSD ... Frankentosh ... Mac Mini SSD ... Frankentosh ... Mac Mini SSD ... Frankentosh ... Mac Mini SSD ...
It took over an hour to disassemble 2012 Mac mini Server and replaced 2 x 1TB hard disks to 2 x SSDs. With this change, this Mac Mini server with its Quad Core i7 2.3Ghz and 16 GB RAM, it should be freaking fast.

Right now, I am restoring the environment fro the time machine. If you want to do this upgrade, I really recommend you do so.

What's Important !!!

What's Important !!!
What are you really buying?

You are the customer, you have the right to choose anyone you do business with. What do you base on your decision to work with one company over others?

Please ask yourself following questions.

Which restaurant do you go often?
If you have few, think about why?

(1) Is it a food?
(2) Is it a price?
(3) Is it an experience?

The answer should be all of above. But out of those three, (1) and (2) must be good enough. There is no way that the restraint you go to have the BEST food at the BEST price. But (3) is always a variable. How often don you go to the restaurant and found the new owner and you tell yourself I am not coming back.

People are looking for BEST experience and that what we should always provide. That what I ask my company to provide 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It may be just a smile, or remembering the customer’s name. You really have to work hard and what’s funny is this does not usually cost money.

What's for lunch?
I had to run to Costco this morning. There I bought 5 pizzas for our office. People are very happy and within few minutes, they were gone.

PS: Pompom was not eating anything ... But I gave him a small piece of cheese pizza ... he ate it. I am so happy to see him eat.

More Data = More Storage

More Data = More Storage More Data = More Storage
Everything that uses storage requiring more and more capacity. Not many people know anymore that we used to store data on the floppy disk that can hold 320KB. Nowadays, if you shoot a photo, it takes 10 time as much as a floppy disk.

Our data center started with 32GB SCSI hard disk ... Now we are talking petabytes (1000 times the terabyte).
