HAL Donates to Red Cross in Kobe, Japan

When ms Volendam visited Kobe, Japan on May 2, Holland America Line made a generous contribution of $25,000 to the Japanese Red Cross to help with Japan’s recent earthquake/tsunami disaster. Volendam Captain Pieter Visser presented the $25,000 check to Red Cross representative Mr. Yasufumi Yoshikawa, deputy secretary general, Hyogo Prefectural Chapter Japanese Red Cross Society. Mr Noriyoshi Okaguchi, director general, Port of Kobe, presented gifts and a bouquet to the captain. The ceremony was followed by a drum performance. As well, ms Prinsendam held a fundraiser onboard, raising nearly $2,200 for relief efforts.
