The Grand Prince Hotel in Akasaka (pictured) closed at the end of March this year and is scheduled for demolition this summer. But until then, it is converted as a shelter for people evacuated from the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plants.
I used to stay at this hotel and it is sad to hear that it will be demoed. But I am happy to hear it has the very important final mission.
One of the things that you love about Japan is so called "B Class Gourmet". Ramen is one of them. Tonight I ate "油そば" Oil Noodle. I have never had this before. You mix soy sauce base sauce and chinese hot oil and vinegar. It tastes very different but good.
For 12,000yen (about $15), you can get some of the best sushi for lunch in Tokyo. This restaurant is called Kappa Sushi in Okachimachi.
The building you see with the golden "whatever it is" is one of the many landmarks in Tokyo. It is a part of Asahi Beer Company ... or is it?

You can see the Shinjyuku building lights on March 30, 2011. The picture above is tonight. You can see there are more lights on those buildings but not as bright as 2009.

I am traveling to Tokyo today. I have been in Kansai where there is no effect from the earthquake and tsunami, but Tokyo is not so lucky. They are conserving electricity (I heard) to compensate for the loss of nuclear power plants. I will let you know how it is this weekend.
I will be coming back to Seattle on Tuesday.
Costco Japan is still selling iPod ... Interesting. Costco stop selling iPod in the USA.
