We had an outage at our data center because the DELL storage failed. Now DELL is point fingers to everyone but themselves. That sucks. The service is back up now but we need to shut the service down several times to make sure we have all the back ups we need. This will be done after business ours today.
We started 2012 season today with the annual kick off meeting.
I went to Shell Gas Station near Bellevue College because I saw $3.399 sign. When I finished pumping I realized the price was $349.9. $339.9 is for "CASH" only. It is not much but I feel cheated. I guess Shell does not want a repeat customer.
I bought two small cables on eBay. They arrived today from CHINA. Those cable were cheaper than any other stores. But I did not think they will ship them from China. Are you telling me it is cheaper to shop those products from China to here than someone in the USA making them? There is something wrong with this.
Company managers got together at Daniel's at Bellevue Place for lunch today.
As of today, our service availability (up time) for 2011 stand at 99.97%. Our goal is 100% but our promise is 99.9%. We cleared our promise but we are not happy with the result. We will be making system more stable for 2012 and try to be as close as to 100%.
What is 99.97% mean?
It means our email and web hosting service was down little over 2 hours 30 minuets this year. Considering we have over 500 servers, 38,000 customers, 250,000 email accounts and over 200 mbps of traffic every second, it gotten much better than used to.
Groupon, Living Social, Google Deal, Amazon ... There are so many deep discount email going around that it is very hard to check them all. This is my Gmail account in the morning.
I saw this museum in Torrance, California. The hours are 3 hours a day, 3 days a week. What is the point? This is where all government services are heading if they do not really think about how they spend money.
Sometime it is necessary to cut what seems needed. No politician has what it takes like small business owners.
I had lunch as Daniel's in Bellevue. We have Seattle Executives Association Luncheon Meeting twice a year at Daniel's. I wish we had it more often, but if we do, we have people in Seattle drive to Bellevue ... that is unthinkable for folks in Seattle.
I was at UW Minority Business Award Dinner & Fundraiser tonight at Sheraton Hotel, downtown Seattle. There must have been more than 700 business people attended. There were many Chinese and Korean business people there but I see no Japanese people or businesses except us. It is sad to see Japanese people not being active.
It was a big event and sea are happy to be a part of it. Congratulations to all the award winners.
