【聖書は男尊女卑を勧めているのか】
キリスト教会内の女性の地位について多少なりとも論じていますが、
教会人の皆様から今一つコメントが少ないのは、女性を恐れてばかりのことではないと思います。笑。
これは以前から
一歩間違えると教会が分裂しかねない微妙な問題なのです。
実は、女性の教職者は聖書の教えからして認められないと考える多くの教会があります。
それに対して男女間を差別的に扱っている聖書の教えは現在に直接適用できない古いもので、
教職地位についても男女平等であるべきだと考える教会もあるからです。
実際に私は米国から派遣されてきたある宣教師が立ち上げた教会の群のことを知っています。
その働きは数十年かけてとても祝され、女性献身者が何人も与えられて神学校卒業後、
単身や女性同士がチームとなって教会建設に励みました。
それを知った米国宣教団体はその宣教師への支援を打ち切ったのでした。
「聖書の教えに忠実ではない」と言うのがその理由です。
やむなくその宣教師は除名された後に
他の支援宣教団体を探さざるをえませんでした。
そのようなセンサティヴな問題を何故私はあえてここに持ち出すのでしょう。
臭いものに蓋をして(？)、ソッと触れないでおくのも大人の知恵と言うものではないでしょうか。
そのような「常識」に反してここでオープンにしてしまう理由がいくつか考えられます。
理由の第一として
聖書の信憑性を保持するためです。
もし聖書の中に実際には適応できない「やばい教え」があるとして
教会の教師らがそれらを避けているのなら、
聖書にも信頼できない部分があると言う印象を人々に与えてしまうでしょう。
「聖書は神の言葉だ、そのように牧師らは教えながらも、その全ては実行していないよね」
そのようなダブルスタンダードを持っているとみなされないでしょうか。
第二の点として、
人の理解力の限界性という点はどうでしょうか。
聖書は誤りのない神の言葉であったとしても、
それを理解する人間の側は完全ではなく理解力に乏しい場合が多いのです。
原典から翻訳されている言語ゆえの理解限界性と言う点もあります。
先回は創世記3章で人が堕罪したときにそれまでの男女間の関係が崩壊し、
それまでにはない新たな欲求が女性の側に生まれたと言う点を解説しました。
それはヘブル語原典の言語の使用法を探求して、
さらにその旧約の史実が新約聖書にある教会の問題につながっていると考察できるまでに
私自身が40年ほどの時間を要しているのです。
聖書には他にも矛盾するように見える教えや、
理解し得ない教えがあります。
理解できないところをその通りに理解できないと教師が認めるのも、
正直で大切な点ではないかと考えます。
第三は、解釈の汎用性や相対性と言うものです。
聖書のある1部分を取り上げて、
「ここに書いてあるから、このように受け取り理解しなくてはならないはずだ」と、
そのように自らの解釈を絶対視してしまうと、
聖書文言に囚われる拘泥に陥り、教条主義に傾いてしまいます。
すると、他者との対話や解釈の幅があることへの理解を欠いたまま
独善と自己義へと走るパリサイ主義への道が開かれることになります。
結果として「論語語りの論語知らず」、
つまり聖書の教えと相反する信仰姿勢に陥ってしまう危険性です。
次回はこの第三を事例とともに取り上げてみたいと思います。

Does the Bible encourage male chauvinism?
I've been discussing the status of women in the Christian church for some time now, and I don't think it's only because of fear of women that I haven't received many comments from church members. LOL.
This argument has been going on for a long time.
This is a sensitive issue that could divide the church if we make a mistake.
In fact, there are many churches that believe that female ministers are not allowed according to the teachings of the Bible.
In contrast, There are also churches that believe that there should be equality in teaching positions, biblical teachings that discriminate between men and women are old and not directly applicable to the present.
In fact, I know of a group of churches that were started by a missionary from the United States.
The ministry was so blessed over the decades that a number of women ministers were given to the ministry after seminary.
After graduating from seminary, they were given the task of planting churches on their own or as a team of women.
When the U.S. missionary organization found out, they cut off their support for the missionary, citing "unfaithfulness to the teachings of the Bible" as the reason.
The missionary was expelled from the mission.
After being expelled, the missionary had no choice but to look for another missionary organization to support.
Why do I dare to bring up such a sensitive issue here?
I think it would be wise as adults to keep a lid on the stink and not touch it.
There are several reasons why you might want to go against such "common sense" and bring it up here.
The first reason is
To preserve the authenticity of the Bible.
If there are some "bad teachings" in the Bible that are not really applicable, and if the teachers of the church are avoiding them, what would happen?
"The Bible is the of God," pastors teach, but of you don't practice all of it,
Wouldn't that be seen as having a double standard?
As a second point.
What about the limitations of human understanding?
Even though the Bible is the infallible word of God, the human beings who understand it are not perfect and often lack the ability to understand it.
This is partly due to the language in which the Bible is translated from the original.
In the previous article, I explained that when man fell in Genesis 3, the relationship between man and woman collapsed and a new desire was born in the woman's side.
It has taken me about 40 years to be able to explore the use of the original Hebrew language and to see how the Old Testament historical facts connect to the problems of the church in the New Testament.
There are other teachings in the Bible that seem contradictory or incomprehensible.
It's an honest and important point for a teacher to admit that he or she doesn't understand something.
The third is what I call the versatility and relativity of interpretation.
If you take one part of the Bible and say, "This is what it says, so this is how I must understand it.”
If we make our interpretations absolute, we will fall into the trap of being confined to the words of the Bible and become dogmatic.
This leads to self-righteousness without dialogue with others and understanding of the range of interpretation.
This paves the way for Phariseeism.
As a result, we end up with "a man who speaks in Bible but does not know them.”
In other words, there is a danger of falling into an attitude of faith that conflicts with the teachings of the Bible.
In the next article, I would like to discuss this third issue with examples.
