What is important for a company?
For a company to survive today, it must meet several requirements. These are, needless to say, "price," "quality," "service," and "sustainability”. It’d be impossible for companies to exist without considering these factors because of how recent trends have changed.
Price:
No matter how good a product is, it will be difficult to sell it unless the price is reasonable. Occasionally, companies will sell products at extravagant prices, but the price is still an important selling factor.
Quality:
When it comes to quality, customers compare a product’s quality to its price. For a product that is of great quality and expensive, it’s obvious that a customer will happily pay for it as long as it’s something they want and they can afford it. For a product that is also of great quality but cheap price-wise, most consumers will think the price is worth it.
For a product that is both expensive and bad quality-wise, customers will find it irredeemable. Therefore, most customers won’t even consider purchasing it. But if the quality’s bad but the price is relatively cheap, some customers will consider buying it because they may see it as a compromise. Better quality items are always better, but there has to be a balance between quality and price. Assuming that the quality is passable, the next comparison consumers will make is quantity. For example, if a restaurant prices two menu items the same but one has more quantity-wise, customers will perceive it as being better and will be a business advantage for the restaurant.
Service:
This is the third most important factor after price and quality. Many people have been put on hold after calling customer support and having to start over with a different support staff member. On the other hand, when working with a smaller company, a customer may call and be surprised when they get the opportunity to talk to the company owner. Or if you’ve called before, the support person you spoke to before may remember you. I believe that service (support) is an area where small and medium-sized companies, in particular, can make a difference by putting more effort into it. Please give Pacific Software Publishing, Inc. Sustainability:
Today, it’s impossible not to be environmentally conscious when conducting business. Keywords like “organic food”, “recycling”, and “decarbonization” are becoming more and more popular among customers. This shows us that sustainability is an important consideration when they choose a company to purchase from. For example, we here at PSPINC manage our own mail servers, which allows us to manage 600 servers (only about 1.5% of our 40,000 servers). This reduces our company’s overall energy consumption. In this sense, running our storage and programs in the cloud also contributes toward making the company eco-friendlier.

Hospitality and Service
Hospitality and service are not the same. Understanding the difference will greatly change the way we interact with customers. Now, I’d like to share my thoughts on what many refer to as service.
What a company provides is available on its website, and they have manuals to carry it out without problems. However, what is important, is the ability to flexibly deal with unexpected situations. Here, I would like to write about my own experience. I once had the opportunity to board a plane while traveling on a business trip to Japan. However, the credit card used to purchase the ticket had fraudulent charges on it. So, I reported it to the credit card company and brought the new card with me to Japan. However, at the counter, the ground crew told me I couldn’t board the plane without the card I used to purchase the ticket.
They said it was because they couldn’t authenticate my identity. So, I showed them my driver's license and passport, but they wanted me to show them the card I used when I purchased the ticket, i.e., the now unusable card. During this conversation, the ground crew inevitably looked at their notes. I think they were looking for the manual. I ended up calling the credit card company to confirm, but the crew member had a hard time explaining as he wasn’t fluent in English. I think this is because the service manual wasn’t set up for such a case. If it’s not in the manual, it’s therefore not possible. It’ll be difficult for the person writing the manual, and the manual will only become thicker over time.
Next, let’s talk about hospitality. Hospitality refers to putting yourself in the other person's shoes and providing what they want you to do. For example, greeting customers with a smile. I heard that McDonald's used to write "Smile" on their menus, and I think this is important. When I underwent surgery, the anesthesiologist looked at my face and explained the surgery in detail as she gave me anesthetics. Even if you’re doing the same job, I’d be happier if you made me feel more comfortable. I believe hospitality consists of managing customers in a way that goes beyond the manual. In many cases, there’s no additional charge for hospitality. I believe this is a reflection of our staff's awareness of our customers.
We take care of our customers. This does not mean that we’ll always give them everything they want. Even if the customer says they are not wrong, it does not mean they are always right. It is how we interact with customers on a daily basis that can lead to a solution for both parties. I believe if you can treat people with kindness and love, as if we were family, we can respond with hospitality.

I usually put gas at Costco, but today I was almost empty so that I had to fill up. I spent over $75.00
I do drive to commute and not much else. I am so lucky that I do not drive for my work. The gas price is still all tie high and it must be hurting many people.
