I’ve finished setting up the new Mac mini M4, which took almost two days to complete. I chose not to use Apple’s Migration Assistant because the old Mac had a lot of unnecessary data, while at the same time, there were specific files and applications I needed to transfer manually.
I reinstalled software using old license keys where possible. While some applications transferred easily, others were impossible to move, and I had to purchase a few utilities to ensure compliance with licensing requirements. Additionally, the Mac mini M4 only has USB-C ports, which posed a challenge as many of my devices still rely on USB connections. As a result, I’m currently unable to connect some of my peripherals, but I’ve ordered a docking station to resolve this issue.
Although the setup isn’t fully complete yet, I’m very happy with the performance and capabilities of the new Mac mini M4.
