トトロの家には今日、さらなる新しい仕掛けが完成していました。
巨大なトトロの木に設置されたブランコです。
ブランコの長さは、15〜20メーターほど？
30メートルほどもあるような大きな木の天辺の枝に、どうやってブランコのロープをつなげるのか。
先日、この木に登るなんてことを魔女のお姉さんたちが話していました。彼らは実際に長い梯子を使って何度かそれを試みたようです。
しかし魔女の魔法を持ってしても、この件に関してばかりはどうもうまくいかなかったようです。
するとターザン登場。
彼がネットでリサーチした結果、ロープの先端に野球用ボールをくくりつけて、それをパチンコ形式で空に向かって放つと言ういわば原始的方法が良いらしいと判断しました。
今日は朝から丸一日をかけてその作業に没頭したようです。パチンコを放つこと、100回以上。
長時間真上を見上げながら硬いパチンコのゴムを力いっぱい絞ってボールを飛ばすことを続けた彼の肩は相当な筋肉痛となっていました。
夕刻5時過ぎに私が到着した時には、立派なブランコが完成していました。
ターザンと魔女の共同事業でした。

Then Tarzan appeared.
He researched on the Internet and decided that the primitive method of tying a baseball to the end of a rope and shooting it into the sky like a slingshot was the way to go.
He spent the whole day from this morning working on it. He released the slingshot more than a hundred times.
His shoulders were quite sore from squeezing the hard rubber of the slingshot with all his might while looking up for a long time.
When I arrived a little after five o'clock in the evening, the magnificent swing set was complete.
It was a joint project between Tarzan and the witch.
