親切とは強制されるべきものでなし

"しかし、あなたの同意なしには何も行いたくありませんでした。それは、あなたの親切が強いられたものではなく、自発的なものとなるためです。"
ピレモンへの手紙 1章14節
パウロがその弟子ピレモンに書いた手紙です。
2人の関係からすれば、パウロはピレモンに命じることができたのです。
しかし彼は命じる代わりに彼の同意を求めています。
オネシモと言う人物を扱う際に「こうしたらどうでしょうか」と提案しているに過ぎないのです。
なぜなら親切行為は命じられたするものではなく、自発的なものでなくてはならないというのが理由です。
なぜなら義務とか命令によって行うなら、すでにそれは愛によるものではないから。
「親切」とは、自発的になされる時に名付けられてそこに価値が生まれる。
本日もあるホテルのロビーの一角をお借りして勝手にオフィス代わりにさせてもらいました。
どうしてもiPadにWi-Fiをつなげる必要があり、暗証コードをフロントに聞きに行きました。
「お客様の部屋ナンバーとラストネームを入れてください」とフロント係の案内でした。
正直に宿泊者ではないことを告げると、他の方法でログインできる秘密を教えてくださいました。
「ありがとうございます。
本当に助かります。家にこもってばかりいたのでは気が変になりそうですので、ここに来ているんです。」
そう告げて、Wi-Fiを利用させてもらいました。
「もちろんいいんですよ、お客様」と気さくな笑顔を振りまくアフリカ系アメリカ人の女性。
しばらく経って喉が渇いたので水ボトルを買ってフロントに持ち出したとき、その彼女の隣には別のチーフらしきフロント係がいました。
するとそのアフリカ系アメリカ人の女性は私に「これをお部屋のルームチャージにしますか」と聞いてきたんです。もう1人のフロント係の手前、私を宿泊者に見立ててくれているんですね。
私もその芝居に付き合わなくてはならないので、「いいえ、ここに現金がありますから、これをお受け取りください」と言って5ドル札を差し出した次第です。
親切にされるってとっても気持ち良いものです。
今日の夕日の空はそんなにも赤く染まってない平凡な空模様でしたが、とびきり綺麗に見えたのはそんなことがあったからだと思います。
"But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any favor you do would not seem forced but would be voluntary.
Philemon, 1:14.
Paul wrote this letter to his disciple Philemon.
Given their relationship, Paul could have commanded Philemon to do it.
But instead of ordering him, he asks for his consent.
He could have merely told that in dealing with a man named Onesimo, "Here's what you should do! .
The reason is that acts of kindness are not commanded, but must be voluntary.
Because if it is done by duty or command, it is not already by love.
Kindness is named and valued when it is done voluntarily.
Today, I borrowed a corner of a hotel lobby and took the advantage of using it as my office.
Soon I needed to connect my iPad to the Wi-Fi, so I went to the front desk and asked for the code to connect to the internet.
"Please enter your room number and last name," the front desk clerk instructed.
I honestly told her that I wasn't a guest and she gave me a secret that allowed me to log in another way. .
“Thank you.
It's really helpful. I'm afraid I'd go crazy if I stayed indoors all the time, so I'm here.”
I told her this way and l could use the Wi-Fi.
That African-American woman with a friendly smile on her face said, "Of course you can, sir.”
After a while, I was thirsty, so I bought a bottle of water and brought it out to the front desk, and next to her was There was a front desk attendant who looked like another chief of staff.
Then the African-American woman asked me if I wanted to make this the room charge. Before the other front desk attendant, she was looking at me as a guest.
I had to go along with the play, so I said, "No, here's some cash for you. I said, "Please accept this," and offered her a $5 bill.
It's very nice feeling to be treated kindly.
The sunset sky today was not so reddish, but it looked so beautiful! Is this because of that kind encounter I have faced today?
