WebdeXpress: New Text Style Feature Out Now!

We’re happy to announce a new text-style feature on WebdeXpress, our website builder that comes included with our Dreamersi web hosting. With this new Text Style feature, you have more control over your website’s website design by choosing your site’s font family, text size, heading alignment, text color, link color, and/or link hover color for different regions of your website.

To access this new feature:

Log into your Dreamersi account.
Click on the WebdeXpress icon or on WebdeXpress in the left navigation bar.
Log into your WebdeXpress account.
Click on Appearance on the left navigation bar and click on Themes once the drop-down menu appears.
Either select one of the first six themes or click on Customize Theme if you already have one of them selected for your website.
Click on Text Style, which will open a drop-down menu with your text styling options.
Click on Show Advanced Options (if not already showing) to see all text styling options. With this new feature, you can change the font family, text size, text color, heading alignment, link color, and/or link hover color for the following regions: Website Title, Website Subtitle, Page Title, and Content.
To view your changes, enter your site’s URL in another tab and refresh the site after selecting your changes and clicking on Save at the bottom.
To reset your changes, click on the Reset Text Style option on the bottom right.

We’ve upgraded our OS from Cent OS7 to Alma Linux 8 since there will no longer be technical support for Cent OS7 after June 30, 2024, and we continue striving towards making sure our hosting services are the safest they can be.

Recently, we had a customer, Norco Print, who came to us needing some updates to their website. When we looked over their requests and how they’d set up their previous site, our experts realized the scope of this project would be well over their budget. Instead, we suggested we rebuild their entire site for them with one of our web packages. That way, they wouldn’t spend thousands of dollars to update their site in the way they needed it.

With WebdeXpress, our experts went to work building out the new website for Norco Print, making sure to incorporate their original change requests while doing so. We’re happy to announce that WebdeXpress, our web-building tool, now has a new feature! Now, while building your website, you can add a privacy policy notice above the contact form submission button. You can create this new privacy policy in English or Japanese and add a title, description, and an agreement checkbox description.

For website owners, privacy policies help set data privacy expectations with your website visitors. Adding one will give users an idea of what kinds of data you’re collecting from them, why you’re collecting it, and how they can contact you if they have any questions or concerns.

The Difference Between Building a Site from Scratch Versus Using a CMS

Before content management systems (CMS) existed, users created sites from scratch, which took a considerable amount of time. But it gave web developers a lot more control over all elements of a website, and that continues to be the case today. But creating websites with a CMS is even more popular today. In fact, more than 84 million websites are built with a CMS. The reason why is simple: it lets anyone create a website easily. Web developers have knowledge of coding languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, among others. With a CMS, users can create websites without the need for a web developer or designer.

While using a CMS can be easier and faster, there are still reasons why some may prefer to build a site from scratch. A CMS will generally offer a free plan, but they’re relatively limited feature- and storage-space-wise unless users upgrade to a paid account. Building a website without one gives developers more control over the hosting environment, giving them more freedom to add unique features to their site. Templates featured on a CMS are attractive, but it also results in multiple sites with the same or very similar site designs. Starting from scratch results in a much more unique site design as well as the ability to add other features that may not be available through a CMS.

Building a Website from Scratch

To create a website from scratch:

Add text, images, navigation bars, and other site building blocks with HTML

Add styling elements with CSS to design your site. A business site should match the look and feel of your brand.

Add more advanced functionality to your site by writing some JavaScript.

Upload the HTML file to your server to be filed away in your database.

From there, you can update the content or make other changes by downloading the files from the server and changing the HTML code by hand. Then upload the files back to the server after checking to make sure the code changes you made don’t result in an unexpected or undesirable result, like breaking a link.

Building a Website with a CMS

A CMS, or content management system, allows users to create, edit, and publish content online without any coding knowledge or experience. To build a site using a CMS:

Create an account on a CMS platform. We recommend WordPress or WebdeXpress, which is free with our Dreamersi web hosting.

Open the content editor to create and edit the content on your site. Without needing to write out any code, you can bold text, add links, and insert images among other things by dragging and dropping blocks or clicking a few buttons.

When you’re done creating or editing content, click on the Publish button and the CMS will display it for your website visitors.
