5 Benefits of Social Media For Your Business

5 Benefits of Social Media For...
Most of us have seen and used social media. If you are reading this article that is almost a certainty. We use it to share vacation photos, life updates, birthdays, anniversaries, cat photos, etc. However, there is a business application for social media. If you aren’t considering the benefits of social media for your business, you may be short changing yourself.

Today we are talking about 5 benefits of using social media for your business - let’s get started!

Smiling business woman

Make human connections with your customers

In most cases, your website is there to present information for your customer. From there, they will make an independent decision based on what you are offering. Unlike a traditional brick and mortar store, you have limited opportunities to engage with your customers.

By using social media, you have the opportunity to converse with your customers in comments and direct messages. In many cases this will allow you to offer superior customer support and really let your customers get to know you.

Woman with megaphone

Bring attention to your brand

The more spaces that users see your brand, the more they will grow to know and trust it. Using your brand identity (both visually and written) repetitiously over time will help customers keep your business in mind when they need it.

However, be careful not to overdo it. Your posts should seem organic, helpful, and entertaining. Simply advertising your products and services on a daily basis won’t likely lead to the brand recognition you are looking for.

Woman leading a meeting

Present yourself as a knowledgeable industry leader

Social media is a fantastic space to present yourself as a leader of your field. Share tips, industry studies, etc. to not just sell yourself, but actively help your customers.

For more long form content you can share links to blog posts. Not only will you help your customers, but you will drive more traffic to your website through your blog. Which is a fantastic opportunity to encourage them to click around and see what you have to offer.

Busy road with traffic

Increase traffic to your website

We just touched on it, but driving website traffic is super important. Whether it is through blog posts, direct links to products you have on sale, etc.

Make sure you are tracking website traffic with Google Analytics so you can directly observe where your referral traffic is coming from. This will help you in determining which social media platforms are the most effective for your target demographic. Allowing you to focus on what works to best grow your business.

Shopping cart next to monitor

Generate leads and potential sales

The ultimate goal of any business is to make sales and generate revenue. Social media is a great way to communicate directly with your customers, or those considering becoming a customer. If you are running a sale or special event, you can provide links or details on those as well.

It’s a fantastic way to capture leads, and potentially generate more sales. Making social media a fantastic sales tool to help grow your business.

If you have yet to set up the necessary social media accounts, or you have neglected focusing on it, you may want to consider revisiting it again. With such a large segment of your customers likely on social media, it’s a tool that is worth paying attention to.

If you have any additional questions, need help getting started, or want to level up your social efforts - please let us know. We can be reached by email or you can call us toll-free at 1-800-232-3989.

At PSPINC, we pride ourselves on offering our customers the best customer support. This is thanks to our amazing support staff. In this series, we will highlight and showcase a number of those friendly faces who are standing by to take your call or email, help with your IT problems, and assist with your online solutions.
Brandon

Brandon is our Customer & Web Service Lead. We sat down with Brandon and asked him a series of questions to get to know him better!

Q: What is it you do at PSPINC?
A: I work more in the typical customer service job, interacting with customers and assisting them with their needs across all our services. I also work with our R&D teams on design and development projects.

--

Q: What does a typical day on the job look like for you?
A: Running through project lists and following up with respective internal teams or customers, day-to-day customer inquiries, service updating, and billing, monitoring customer services, creating project/service proposals and quotations, web services research.

--

Q: How did you first learn about PSPINC? What drew you to the position?
A: I was set up with an interview via a recruitment company. The position was bilingual English/Japanese which is something I had been wanting to do because of my Japanese degree from college. Having the business be Japanese-owned sounded like a great way to get this experience regardless of the specific position.

--

Q: What’s your favorite part about working here?
A: Being able to use Japanese on a daily basis – this has helped me maintain and even improve my fluency since college and it’s a fun language to use.

--

Q: How has PSPINC helped you in your career development?
A: Aside from the aforementioned language experience, I have learned a vast amount about the IT/tech industry and the various parts that it entails. I feel very confident that these skills will serve me well in any situation as the age of technology continues to evolve.

--

Q: What are 3 words to describe PSPINC?
A: Adaptive, Responsive, Personalized

--

Q: Before working at PSPINC, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
A: For good or ill, I used to hold a customer service role at a department store which allowed me to come across just about every type of person. I met many people during my time there and had both positive and negative experiences, which made it interesting in its own way.

--

Q: What has been your favorite project at PSPINC?
A: We designed a complete parking reservation system from scratch for the state of Hawaii, and even ported it to another park on a different island. This stood out for me as the most successful project we have done that I was involved in from the start, and that went the most smoothly.

--

Q: What is your proudest moment at PSPINC?
A: Completing my first team project from start to finish – many of the customers and projects that I worked with initially were inherited part-way through. But having a new customer and brand-new project to work on and be involved in at each step to see it through to completion was a great feeling.

--

Q: What advice do you have for prospective candidates?
A: Try and learn something new every day, whether about your own job or even someone else’s. Growing your knowledge to be as expansive as possible will help you do your own work and understand the work that others do.

--

Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: Gaming, Online media consumption, playing saxophone, studying new languages

--

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Curry – more specifically authentic Japanese curry. The spicier the better!

--

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: The Lord of the Rings trilogy, followed closely by the prequel Hobbit trilogy.

--

Q: Where would you like to travel to?
A: Either Japan (again, to Tokyo region) or New Zealand (home of LOTR!)

--

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Brandon a bit! If you are looking for assistance with your next web project, give Brandon a call at 1-800-232-3989. He has the experience and expertise to help make your digital dream a reality.

PSPINC What's New Newsletter Vol. 72 "How do you deal with bad reviews?"

スレッド
PSPINC What's New Newslette...
Vol. 72

The Internet has surpassed media such as television and newspapers in terms of being seen by many people. It has become commonplace to use social media and other mediums to promote a company. When you use social media in this way, you have to understand that it is not a one-way platform like TV or traditional print material.

What I mean by that is with social media, not only the sender but also the receiver can write comments and evaluations. Naturally, some of the comments and feedback are positive (favorable), but there is also negative (unfavorable). Naturally, you would want to erase the bad comments. However, there is no value in a social media platform that can erase all bad reviews. Social media is a place to create opportunities for those who send out information to improve if there is room for improvement.

Often, the first response to a bad review or a problem is to defend oneself: "That's not true,” or "We don't have a problem.” This is the same as deleting bad reviews, which can cause what is often called "flaming." When a flare-up occurs, the story expands to something completely different from the facts, this should never happen.

If you receive a bad review, the right thing to do is to apologize to the other person. Even if you did what you thought was correct, if you made the other person feel bad, the proper way of handling it is to apologize. After that, it is necessary to conduct an actual investigation to clarify what went wrong. Even if it turns out to be a misunderstanding on the part of the other party, don't just say, "That's it.”

I believe that bad publicity is not always a bad thing. If you are in business, it is very difficult to be liked by all people. Try to understand where the other person is coming from, and think about how to respond in a way that is understandable to them and you, so that a response will not cause a flame war.

HELP DESK SYSTEM

スレッド
HELP DESK SYSTEM
We have developed and implemented a HELP DESK system allowing our customers to email any questions or problems they have to our customer support team. This is done by simply emailing your problem to support@pspinc.com. When using HELP DESK you can choose any email address you have access to.

When the email enters the system, it is placed in a pool where our support staff can answer each one-by-one in the order they are received - this way, no email gets lost.

This HELP DESK system is built on the PILOT.PSPINC.COM platform, which is a FREE CRM software system where anyone can sign up. HELP DESK is a paid add-on but I want you to try it for FREE. We have no plan to charge for this service to any small businesses so long as there is a ‘Stay-Home’ order in effect.

This system is allowing PSPinc to maintain a superior level of service even with our support staff working from home. There is no charge. Please contact us to set up your account.
