what is the problem?

what is the problem?
When a project does not go well, many managers tend to see it as a "people" problem. However, in many cases, the real issue lies in "communication" and "understanding."

For a project to succeed, it is crucial not only to convey "what needs to be done" but also to clarify "why it needs to be done." If team members understand the purpose behind their tasks and can work proactively, the project's progress will improve significantly.

Additionally, there are different types of project failures. Some may result from technical difficulties, while others may occur because team members simply followed instructions without fully grasping the project's objectives. If it is the latter, it is likely that the project's core purpose was not effectively communicated.

As a manager, you can increase the chances of project success by keeping the following points in mind:

1. Share the purpose
Clearly communicate not just "what to do" but also "why it needs to be done."

2. Encourage open communication
Create an environment where team members feel comfortable asking questions, ensuring they do not become mere task executors.

3. Monitor progress and make adjustments
Instead of just giving instructions, conduct regular reviews and make necessary course corrections.

4. Assess team members' suitability
If a project does not improve even after clarifying its intent, re-evaluate whether the assigned team members have the necessary skills and suitability.

When a project struggles, rather than focusing on "who is to blame," it is more important to ask, "how can we make it work?" Managers should reflect on their own actions and consider what they can do to facilitate success.

Wednesday Meals

Wednesday Meals Wednesday Meals Wednesday Meals
I was at the hospital from 8:30 AM until almost 4 PM today. I had breakfast at home, and for the first time since my hospitalization, I ate out for lunch. I had a grilled cheese sandwich at the hospital cafeteria—not exactly an exciting choice for my first meal out. For dinner, I had a stir-fry mixed with yakisoba at home.

At the hospital, I mentioned that I’ve been experiencing persistent diarrhea, so they decided to remove one of my current medications. Hopefully, this will help ease the issue.

The main event of the day was getting the stent removed from between my kidney and bladder in the afternoon. It was quite painful.

A Long Day

スレッド
A Long Day
This morning, I had a blood test at the hospital at 8:30 AM, followed by a meeting with my nephrologist at 9:30 AM, where we adjusted my medication. Later, at 2:30 PM, I underwent the removal of a stent that had been placed from my kidney to my bladder. This procedure is typically done without anesthesia, so it was quite tough. However, it was successfully removed. Now that the stent is gone, I'm both curious and a bit concerned about how things will feel moving forward.

Ken Uchikura Newsletter Vol. 325 Is the Hosting Business Saturated in Japan?

Ken Uchikura Newsletter Vol. ...

Is the Hosting Business Saturated in Japan?

There’s a discussion about how the hosting business is saturated in Japan, but is that really the case? By examining the domain registration numbers, we can determine whether this trend is true. If the market is saturated, the new registration demand numbers should decrease and the domain registration numbers should plateau. Below are the number of domain registrations in Japan from 2001 to 2024:

- 2001: 40,359
- 2002: 33,189
- 2003: 36,949
- 2004: 47,393
- 2005: 78,345
- 2006: 65,811
- 2007: 66,387
- 2008: 71,028
- 2009: 81,163
- 2010: 88,812
- 2011: 102,457
- 2012: 121,576
- 2013: 140,112
- 2014: 158,479
- 2015: 157,361
- 2016: 178,800
- 2017: 200,264
- 2018: 230,311
- 2019: 267,988
- 2020: 357,150
- 2021: 488,556
- 2022: 570,736
- 2023: 1,398,795
- 2024: 2,629,408

These figures clearly show the growth of domain registrations, indicating that the demand for online presence in Japan is still expanding. This data shows that the demand is not plateauing; on the contrary, they’re rapidly growing. Especially since 2020. The increase in new registrations suggests that many businesses and individuals are still seeking an online presence.

So, where are they hosting these registered domains?
The domain registration situation in Japan is as follows:

- Total number of Top-Level Domains (TLDs): 710
- Total number of registered domains: 7,712,091
- Global market share: 1.02%

This data reflects the scale of domains managed and operated within Japan and its international position.

The breakdown of domain registrations in Japan is as follows:

- .com: 48.74%
- .xyz: 7.68%
- .net: 7.32%
- .lol: 6.08%
- .sbs: 5.69%
- .cfd: 3.91%
- .site: 3.21%
- .info: 1.88%
- .jp: 1.67%
- .tokyo: 1.38%
- Other: 12.44%

These numbers show the trends in the use of TLDs in Japan, with .com holding the dominant share.

Kidney Transplant

スレッド
Kidney Transplant
When you hear "kidney transplant," what do you think happens? I used to believe they removed the old kidney—the one that wasn’t working—and replaced it with the donor's kidney. But that’s not actually how it works. Unless the old kidney is infected or causing a problem, they leave it in place. Instead, they add the new kidney near the bladder, connecting it to both the bladder and the blood supply. They also place a stent to ensure urine flows properly from the new kidney to the bladder.

After about 20 days, they remove the stent.

Today is the day they will take out my stents. Due to complications after surgery, they had to insert two stents, and both are coming out today. It’s going to be a long day.
