I've been an entrepreneur for 33 years now and I am sometimes asked why I started my business. I've been thinking about the answer to this question for a long time and I've come to believe that the reason I started my business is because I wanted to test myself. I didn't want to be in a company where someone told me to do a job and if I succeeded, someone else would praise me and if I failed, I would be responsible.
I'm sure some of you reading this newsletter are thinking about going out on your own. One thing I can tell you is that if you think starting your own business will give you more free time than you've ever had before, you shouldn't pursue it.
When you go out on your own, you will have more work to do that you didn't have to do before. Including things such as taxes, accounting, compliance, and payroll. From the day you start your own business, you will no longer have an accounting department that will give you receipts and process them for you. Taxes are not withheld at your own expense like they were when you were getting paid. You have to arrange your own health insurance. Even your cell phone service is not provided by someone else.
People that you have been associating with may stop associating with you when you go out on your own. The people you have worked with may no longer be your friends. When you go out on your own, you are now the representative of the company, even if you are a one-person company. You have to find your own customers, and you also have to think about funding. That's what it means to be an entrepreneur. Nevertheless, I'm glad that I became an independent businessman. If you are thinking about going independent, please come talk to me anytime. For those of you who have become independent, please come and talk to me anytime. Once you become independent, it's hard to find someone to talk to. Please let me be the one you can chat with. I have a lot to talk about too.

I just receive an email saying McRib is back at Macdonald's.
Did you know McRib debut back in 1981 ... I Googled it.
I remember eating this at McDonald's in from of my college in Azusa, California.
I was taking marketing class in the college and they told me why McRib is not in the regular menu. Here is what I heard.
When people eats something good, they remember it and keep eating it. If people eat enough of the good tasting food, they will start get used to it and get tired of it. So, the restaurant should not serve good tasting food all the time. They should sell so-so foods so people forget what they taste like and they come back again and again. That is the reason why McRib will not make a regular menu.

There are many hearing and litigations going on about the 2020 presidential elections. People can agree or disagree but you cannot really ignore what is going on. Right now we are talking about battleground states but how about our state, the State of Washington.
We all assume it is a blue state and no challenge is made ... ever. Is that right. I know at least one person who is not an US citizen receiving the mail-in ballot.

There was an inspection at our company by the fire department. There were few things we need to fix but nothing major. The worse offenses are some people joined the extension cord to gather to make the lines longer. That is a No No. Another thing is that we should not use doorstop if the door has an automatic closure.
Starting this year, the fire department start charging for the inspection. I wonder how much bill we will receive.
