Dinner at Fuji Soba ... This complete set is priced for 650 yen (about $6.00) including tax and of cause no tipping. A small cup of very good drip coffee at convenience store is price at 100 Yen (about $0.92).
But not everything is cheap in Japan especially restaurants at hotel is insane. I saw a poster of Trader Vic's restaurant selling steak dinner for 16,000 yen (about $145).
You just need to know where to go and what to eat. Because of the weaker Yen, it is avery good time to come to Japan.
Japan has developed most comprehensive pubic transportation system in the world. You can actually travel pretty much everywhere without having a car.
The main train system was called Japan National Rail (JNR) and was wend by the government. In april 1, 1987, JNR was privatized and became Japan Rail (JR).
So, most of public transportation system, train, buses, airlines and taxies are not funded by the tax money. It is wonderful. I think the US should learn from that.
This is going to be my office and home for next 4 nights.
When there is an Internet connection, I can do 80% of my work.
I think I am lucky that way.
So I am okay for next few days.
The hotel I am staying used to charge money for an Internet access but they stop doing that few years ago.
Now both wired and wireless Internet are included in the price.
Compared to how much hotels cost in Seattle/Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland areas, This hotel is bargain at less than $200 a night in the middle of Tokyo.

I am on a bullet train heading to Tokyo. Although I am moving over 15mph, it is extremely quiet and stable.
Other than the fact it costs cheaper to fly, I love this train.

I had Takoyaki yesterday. If you don't know what it is, check out the Wikipedia I listed. It was very hot and good. If you never had it, you should try. You can also buy frozen Takoyaki at Japanese supermarkets in the US. Make sure you buy one that is round not a bell shape one.

Because this is an AU store you cannot buy a SIM FREE version.
I heard iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are cheaper in Japan than anywhere else in the world because of weaker Yen. There are many Chinese people lining up to buy iPhone 6 in Japan.
I had a meeting in Kobe this morning. The next door to the meeting was "Center for Developmental Biology" or 理化学研究所 発生・再生科学総合研究センター in Japanese. I did not know this place was in Kobe.
