Shinjyuku a week after !!!
Same area last month.
7 Years ago, Took area of japan experienced 9.0 earthquake and tsunami. It took over 18,500 lives and crippled nuclear power plants. One point we had over 400,000 evacuees. How there are still about 70,000 people living in the shelters.

Recovery efforts are done but it will take years and years especially nuclear power plants. The pictures you see here are taken a week after the earthquake and last month. Japan went into an extreme power saving mode back then.

Randoseru / ランドセル

A randoseru (ランドセル) is a firm-sided backpack made of stitched firm leather or leather-like synthetic material, most commonly used in Japan by elementary schoolchildren. Traditionally it is given to a child upon beginning his or her first year of school, whereupon the child uses the same bag until grade 6. The term is a borrowed word from the Dutch "ransel" meaning "backpack", a clue to its origins nearly 200 years ago as used in the Netherlands.

You can stay in downtown Tokyo and Osaka Metro area for $15 to $50 per night if you use capsule hotel. You can check for availability using any of the travel booking sites including hotels.com, expedia.com and so on.

Tattoos in Japan

Tattoo is considered that you are a part of gang organization (or Yakuza) in Japan. There for many establishments (mainly public baths, sauna and Onsen) prohibits people with tattoo from entering. It includes one point tattoo like a little butterfly and flower and even a name except for medical reasons.

If you have one point tattoo, we suggest you buy a sticker to cover your tattoo. You can question like if your culture encourage people to have tattoo, in case of like Polynesian Tattoo. I am sure there will be a lot of talk about this issue as Japan is getting ready for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Always Carry Your Passport in Japan

Buisness as usual: A police officer takes a passport from a passenger at Narita International Airport, Chiba Prefecture, during a security check in August 2013. Tourists staying in Japan for less than three months must always carry a passport. | KYODO

Also police has a right to search your possession in Japan without court order. Well, actually they do not, but they do ask you "If it is okay." ... If you say "No" ... you can get detained. If you resist, you will be searched.
