At Japanese Airport

At Japanese Airport
Next time when you take off from the airport in Japan, take look outside. It is a custom to see ground crew waving at your airplane and bow before they go back to whatever they were doing.

I think it is part of Omotenashi (おもてなし), caring.

Quick Meals in Japan
When I go to Japan and get hungry ... I often visit a convenience store and buy a sandwich and salad. Cheap quick and healthy ... and most of all they are so good.

Capsule Hotel
Why spend hundreds of dollars (tens of thousands of yen) when all you need is a warm comfortable and safe place to sleep. I have been a fan of so called capsule hotels in Japan. And I really thing the concept should work in the US as well specially for younger generations.

What do you think?

Pros and Cons of Shinkansen 新幹線

Pros and Cons o...
Pros and Cons o...
I was doing 160 mph ... That i... I was doing 160 mph ... That is fast.
Connecting Tokyo and Osaka (500 km or 320miles) in about 2 and half hours, Shinkansen is a very reliable and fast and comfortable transpiration even when you compare it to the airlines. Jets fly from Tokyo to Osaka in about 50 minutes, but you need to take train, bus or taxi to get to the downtown area whereas Shinkansen gets you to the middle of the city. That is all good.

But there is one drawback I have to mention. Because Shinkansen has no competitor, the price is fixed and it is rather high. Unless you buy airline ticket at the last minute, airlines offer cheaper transportation between Tokyo and Osaka.

One more thing. Shinkansen have not accident since it started operation back in 1964. That is over 53 years without an accident.
