日本人の間では、雑談の中で「血液型占い」がよく話題に上がります。「あなたは何型？」と尋ねられ、その答えによって「やっぱりA型っぽいね」「B型だからマイペースなんだ」などと盛り上がるのです。
統計によると、日本人の血液型はA型が最も多く約40%、次にO型が30%、B型が20%、AB型が10%とされています。そのため、A型に関する性格イメージは特に身近に語られることが多いようです。
一般的に言われる血液型ごとの性格は次の通りです。

一方、アメリカではどうでしょうか。実はアメリカ人の多くは自分の血液型を知らない人が少なくありません。病院で検査しない限り、知る機会があまりないからです。ですから「あなたの血液型は？」と尋ねても、答えられない人が多いのです。
同じ「血液型」という身近なものでも、日本とアメリカでは会話の広がり方が大きく違う。そこに文化の違いが見えて、とても興味深いですね。
