Did you know that you can get cheap glasses in Japan? In the U.S., ophthalmologists must do a vision test. In Japan, there’s no need for eye examinations. In fact, they can make subscription glasses with a machine. Additionally, opticians can use the results of a vision test on the spot and stock those lenses.

The eyeglasses store I frequent has hundreds of frames. Not only that, but they’ll cut and place lenses inside the glasses frame you like. The entire process from eye inspection to delivery can happen in as little as 15 minutes. After that, prices will range from ¥3300, ¥6600, and ¥9900 and it includes the vision test, frames, and lenses.

For reference, ¥3300 is $30 in U.S. dollars. The entire process is amazingly fast, and it’s all done at such a low price. When I go to Japan, I get a few sets of glasses and bring them back. This alone is enough to pay for my trip. So why don’t you try getting eyeglasses in Japan??
