久方ぶりの日光浴

数週間ぶりに太陽の光を見ました。
ようやくシアトル上空にも青空が広がり、大げさに言えば太陽が存在していたのを視覚的に確認できたのです。
夕方を待たずに高台へ上り、いつもの角度から山の稜線を眺めました。
オリンピック山脈の山頂の雪化粧は、山々の半分近くまでその裾野をおろしていました。
日光に我が身を照らすのがこれほど爽快なことかと感動ものです。
その山を眺めた直前の午前中、定例シアトル地区日本人日系人牧師会にズーム参加。
この牧師会は3ヶ月毎に開かれていて、言わば同業者たちと顔を合わせての情報や祈りの交換ができた久方ぶりの貴重な時でした。
昨今の大統領選挙に絡む政治的分断が教会内にも大きく影響していること。
教会リーダーとして各個人が政治的スタンスとどのような距離を置いて、教会内でどのような言動がふさわしいのか。
パンデミックの中でのオンラインを用いての集会のあり方と課題。
各教団教派の伝統や各教会の運営手法に見られる型枠。
それらは決して退けるものではなく尊いものではあるが、普遍的なものでもないとの認識。結局牧師とはその型枠の中に自らを律したり、群の信者を閉じ込めようとする組織運営者に過ぎなかったのではないかとの反省。
そのような意味の「牧師」は新約聖書には登場していないとの発見。
ある牧師からそのような真摯なお話が聞けて、神聖な光に心探られ温められたような時間となりました。
そして夕刻に再びその高台に上がってみると、やはり美しい夕焼け空が広がっていました。
For the first time in weeks, I saw the light of the sun.
Finally, there was blue sky over Seattle, and I could visually confirm that the sun was there, to put it boldly saying.
Without waiting for evening, I climbed up to the high ground and looked at the mountain ridges from my usual angle.
The snow-covered peaks of the Olympic Mountains were almost halfway down the range.

In the morning just before the viewing mountains, I zoomed to a regular meeting of Japanese pastors in the Seattle area.
It was the first time in a long time that I was able to meet with my peers and exchange information and prayers.

The recognition that these are not universal, though they are precious and not to be dismissed. In the end, the pastor was just an administrator who tried to discipline himself or confine his flock of believers within the framework.
Discovered that "pastor" in that sense does not appear in the New Testament.
Hearing such a sincere talk from a pastor was like being searched and warmed by the divine light.
In the evening, I went up to the hill again and found a beautiful sunset sky.
