今日の夕日自体は全く見えなかったのですが、それでも雲はあかね色に輝いて素敵な夕焼け空を形作ってくれていました。
キリスト教をヨーロッパ世界に宣教した使徒パウロには大きな肉体的ハンディがあったのです。それが病であったのか、障害であったのかはっきり解りません。彼は神にその肉体のハンディを取り去ってくれるようにと何度も祈ったのですが、神は意外な答えを彼に与えています。そのハンデのままで良い。その弱さの中にこそ、力を見いだすことができるのだ、と言われたのです。
私たちの人生は、あらゆる面で良いものだけで装いたいと考えます。しかしある面においては人知れずネガティブな側面を持たざるを得ないことがあるでしょう。しかしそんなマイナスと見えるところにこそ、神の恵みと力が働くのです。

When I went to Cosco today, I also bought this.
The man who was standing in line right in front of me only bought the chicken.
The sunset itself wasn't visible at all today, but the clouds were still shining in a brilliant reddish-brown color, and I could see a beautiful sunset sky.
The Apostle Paul, who preached Christianity to the European world, had a great physical handicap. Whether it was a disease or a disability, we do not know for sure. He prayed many times to God to take away his physical handicap, but God gave him an unexpected answer. He said that you can remain at that handicap. We want to dress our lives up in every aspect with only good things. But there will be certain aspects of our lives that we don't know about and that have a negative one. However it is in those areas that appear negative that God's grace and power work.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. いつもの高台から日没を眺めると、シアトルに帰ってきた感がさらに広がります。
ポーランドから運転すること約3時間、今回は睡魔と戦うこともなく余裕鑠鑠で帰ってきました。
昨日の丸一日を使ったハイキングでかなり疲れていましたが、その晩10時間程も睡眠するとすっかり元気を取り戻すことができました。
一方子供たちは昨夜ポートランドで夕食を済ませた後、その晩のうちに帰途につきました。
私だけ1人でもう1泊したのです。
いつも働きを終えてポートランドに帰る道中は睡魔が襲って来ます。すると平手打ちを頬にしながらそれと戦ったり、途中レストエリアで仮眠を取ったりするのです。運転をしながらレクチャーを聞いていますが子守唄にしか聞こえず、ほとんど頭に入りません。
今回は眠気を催ずに、しっかりとレクチャーを楽しみ学ぶことができました。
今晩見たシアトルの日没にはなんだ遮る雲はなく、日輪自体がオリンピックの山肌に没する瞬間を見ることができました。
ところで神について、人間について、人間の死後の世界について、やがて来る神の統治する世界について、私たちはぼんやりとしたものしかしか知らなかったのですが、2000年前のキリストの十字架と復活、そして昇天を通してはっきりとした啓示が与えられました。
それまでは夢とか幻などを見た預言者が語る内容の範囲内でしか私たちには知らされていなかったのです。しかし、キリストご自身の語る言葉を通じて、またその教えに接した十二使徒らの残した書簡を通じて神のスピリットが確かなこととして示した27冊の書物が聖書として残されています。
この聖書の言葉がはっきりくっきりとこれらの永遠の謎であったことについて、しかし生きる上でとても大切なことを私たちに明らかに伝えてくれています。
"神は昔、預言者たちによって、多くの部分に分け、多くの方法で先祖たちに語られましたが、
この終わりの時には、御子にあって私たちに語られました。神は御子を万物の相続者と定め、御子によって世界を造られました。

Watching the sun set from my usual perch, I felt even more like I was back in Seattle.
I didn't have to fight sleepiness to get back during the three-hour drive from Poland. .
I was pretty tired from last day's full day of hiking, but after about 10 hours of sleep that night. I was able to completely regain my energy.
The kids, on the other hand, had dinner in Portland last night and then headed home later that night.
I was the only one who stayed one more night.
I always get sleepy on the way back to Portland after working. I would fight it with a slap on the cheek and take a nap in the rest area on the way home!
I listen to the lecture while driving, but it sounds like a lullaby and I can barely get into the lecture.
This time I was able to enjoy the lecture and learn without getting drowsy.
There was not a cloud to block the sunset in Seattle tonight, the sun wheel itself was just sinking into the Olympic mountains.
We could see about God, by the way, about man, about man's afterlife, and about the world of God's government that will eventually come only vaguely for many years.
However, about the 2000 years ago, through Christ’s cross, his resurrection and his ascension, a clear revelation was given to us.
Until then, it was only made known to us within the confines of what the prophets told us in his dreams and visions, etc. But through the words of Christ Himself and through the letters left by the twelve apostles who were exposed to His teachings, there are twenty-seven books left as the New Testament Bible that the Spirit of God has shown certainly of these facts.
The words of this Bible clearly and unambiguously state that these were eternal mysteries before, but now It clearly tells us something very important about ourselves.
“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.“

今日も寿司をグローサリーでピックアップし宿舎で夕食をとる。こんな時味噌汁は必需品なのでインスタントのものを日系グローサリーで調達した。
自宅にいるときには決してインスタントのものやテイクアウトのものは口にしない。
私以外の家族はだれも味噌汁を飲まないが、1人分だけを鰹節から出汁を取ってシアトルの友人が手作りした味噌を味わっている。
少し手を加えるだけで味はともかく健康な食品を摂取できるのなら手間を省く理由がない。
日本のコンビニが誇る弁当だってMSGのオンパレード。
化学薬品で生体を蝕むのは御免被りたい。
自宅から離れた今、そんなスタンスを保ち付けることはできない。テイクアウトの寿司に味噌汁をいただけないなんて事はありえないので、止む無くインスタント味噌汁を数年ぶりに口にした。
夕食をとりながら、人はその置かれている時代環境によって理解や行動に制約がかかることを改めて気づきました。
かつて日本には戦国時代にカトリシズムがもたらされキリシタン人口が爆発的に伸びた時代がありました。
純真な聖書的キリスト教に、カトリシズムの作った「おまけ」キリスト教が付随していて、その部分に固執しているキリシタンたちをどこか上から目線で見ていた自分に気づいたのです。
当時日本はもちろんヨーロッパ社会であっても自らの国言葉で聖書を読むということは不可能でした。
それならば信者は教会が教えてくれる教理を鵜呑みにするしかなく、そこには神ではなく人を崇めることや、聖書ではなく律法の行いによって救いを勝ち取ろうとする偽の福音に流される事はやむを得ないことであったのでしょう。
純正の福音情報源が身近になければ、人はその閉ざされた霧の中でようやく見える、教えらる範囲内で生きる他なかったのです。
十分な啓示を与えられている現在の私たちが、制約の中にいた過去の人たちを見下すことがあったとしたら、それは傲慢であると言う思いに至っています。
インスタント味噌汁ですか？
やはり塩気が強く味が濃いですね。最初の口当たりは良くてもすぐに飽きてしまいます。
これなら白湯だけをスープにしたほうがよかったです。
I picked up sushi at the grocery store and had a dinner at a hotel. In such a case, miso soup is a necessity, so I bought instant miso soup at the Japanese grocery store.
When I'm at home, I never eat instant miso soup or take-out food.
No one else in my family drinks miso soup but me, still I take the broth from katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) and served it with homemade miso made by my friend in Seattle.
With a little work, there's no reason to avoid the trouble when you can make healthy food, also enjoying it’s better taste.
Japan's convenience stores are proud of their bento boxes, but they are also full of MSG.
I don't want to be exposed to chemicals by those food.
Now that I'm away from home, I can't maintain such a stance. There's no way I can't have takeout sushi with miso soup, so I had to settle for instant I hadn't tasted miso soup in years.
Over dinner, I realized that people are limited in their understanding and behavior by the historical environment in which they are placed.
Once upon a time, Japan was in the Warring States period (1467-1568) when Catholicism was introduced and the Christian population exploded.
The pure biblical Christianity, accompanied by the "extra" Christianity created by Catholicism, and I realized that I had been looking down on these Christians who were fixated on the non essential Doctrines from a somewhat superior perspective.
At that time, reading the Bible in one's own language was impossible in Japan, or even in European society.
Then the believer has to take the doctrine taught by the church, and that's where the person, not God, is Admired, and spreads a false gospel that seeks to win salvation by the deeds of the law, not by faith and grace. This must have been unavoidable in the limited access to the genuine gospel teaching.
Without a genuine source of gospel information close at hand, one can finally see and be taught in that closed fog. We had no choice but to live within the range.
We in the present, given sufficient revelation, may look down on those in the past who were within the constraints. If so, I've come to the conclusion that it would be arrogant.
Instant miso soup?
It's still very salty and strong tasting. The first mouthfeel is good, but you get tired of it soon.
It would have been better to use only the hot water as the soup.
1666年にあったロンドン大火では4日間市内の木造家屋を燃やし続けた結果、その約9割が灰になったと言われます。しかもその前年にはベストの大流行が重なっていて8万人ほどの死者が出ていたらしい。
「泣きっ面に蜂」とはこのことで、とんだ災難が続いたものです。その後の復興計画においては木造建築が禁止され、広い道路と下水道が整備されて、近代都市誕生の礎を築いたと知れば「災い転じて福となす」の句も思い出されます。この後約100年後に産業革命をいち早く完成させる英国では、その大英帝国の首都拠点として機能するための大改造ともなったのでした。
そのロンドン大火から約9年ほど前の1657年には、江戸で明暦の大火がありました。家康以来から続く古い密集した下町においてはその全てが、市街全体では6割が灰となり、天守閣を含めた江戸城のほとんどが焼失されました。江戸においてもこの後、耐火構造を考慮してのまちづくりが進められて行きます。
まず江戸城天守閣再建案は、庶民の暮らしを再建することが先であるとして幕府は再建を見送ります。
道幅をうんと広くしたり、屋根の向きを同一方向に統一することによって出火の際は延焼防止のため倒壊しやすくしました。
こんなことなどを想起したのは、今日東京都知事選挙の結果の報道に接したからです。
コロナ禍で経済活動が境地に陥っている東京において、庶民の暮らしを真っ先に考えるリーダーが選ばれたのでしょうか。10年先、いや数10年先を見通した大構想をビジョンするリーダーを選んでくれたのでしょうか。
その結果を聞いて大いに戸惑ったり、55%と言う投票率の低さ、人々の関心のなさに驚いたり。
そんな複雑な感情をワシントン湖畔に燦燦と注ぐ爽やかな陽光の中で抱いていました。
あまりに東京は遠く、またその世相の厳しさが今日の湖畔の平穏さと相容れないものでした。
「ええ〜イ、どうにでもなれ〜イ べらんめい」ってな江戸弁を吐いてみたくなったのは、その乖離の甚だしさのせいにしておきます。

I'll blame it on the enormity of the divergence between here and Tokyo.

新約聖書のエペソ書においてこの語句が5回使われています。
そしてその神的な領域である「天のところ」にあっては、何が存在して、それがどのような状態にあるのか、私たちとの関わりにおいて関連することなどが啓示されてあります。
①「天にある」すべての霊的な祝福が私たちのものとなっている。
"神はキリストにあって、天上にあるすべての霊的祝福をもって私たちを祝福してくださいました。"(1章3節)
②復活されたキリストは「天のところ」で父なる神の右の座に着座されておられる。
"この大能の力を神はキリストのうちに働かせて、キリストを死者の中からよみがえらせ、天上でご自分の右の座に着かせて、"(1章20節)
③その右の座とは、私たち信者もキリストとともに座しているのだという。
"神はまた、キリスト・イエスにあって、私たちをともによみがえらせ、ともに天上に座らせてくださいました。"(2章6節)
④その「天のところ」には天使の勢力らが存在している場である。
"これは、今、天上にある支配と権威に、教会を通して神のきわめて豊かな知恵が知らされるためであり、"(3章10節)
⑤またそこには悪霊も存在している場である。
"私たちの格闘は血肉に対するものではなく、支配、力、この暗闇の世界の支配者たち、また天上にいるもろもろの悪霊に対するものです。"(6章12節)
地上においては見ることができない、「天の所」とはいかなる場であるのかをこうして聖書から教えられます。
そこには天使もいる、悪霊もいる、そしてキリストが諸々のそれらの勢力よりも高い父なる神の右の座に座しておられ、そこに私たち信者も共に座す資格を得たのだと。さらに、そこに存在している全ての祝福で私たちが祝されているのだと言うのです。溢れるばかりの恵みがすでに私たちにあったのです。
今晩は日の入りの約1時間ほど前にいつもの展望台にやってきました。
すると今まで見ることのできなかった美しい空の様体が現れていました。充分に明るい太陽光線は、雲の作る空模様の造形を日の入りの赤みだけとは異なる栄光に仕上げてくれていました。
ἐπουρανίοις (uranois) - : "the heavenly place”
Five times in the New Testament at the book of Ephesians this phrase is used.
And in that divine realm of the "heavenly places," what exists and what state it is in, also these passages tells us of the revelation of what is in and relevant in relation to us, etc.
(1) All spiritual blessings "in heaven" are ours.
"God has blessed us in Christ with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places." (1:3)
(2) The resurrected Christ is seated at the right hand of God the Father "in the heavenly places".
"This great power God has put to work in Christ, that He might raise Him from the dead, and in the heavenly realms and put Him on His right hand seat in "(1:20)
(3) That right hand seat means that we believers are also seated with Christ.
"God has also raised us up together in Christ Jesus, and made us sit together in heavenly places He gave me." (2:6)
(4) In that "heavenly place" is the place where the angelic powers are present.
"This is the place where the very rich wisdom of God is now made known to the rulers and authorities in heaven, through the church”
(3:10)
(5) It is also a place where evil spirits are present.
"Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against dominion, against power, against the rulers of this dark world, and It is against all the evil spirits that are in heaven." (6:12)
This is how the Bible tells us what kind of place is the "heavenly place" that cannot be seen on earth. We are taught only being revealed by these sections.
There are angels there, there are demons, and there is God the Father who is higher than all those forces, and Christ is higher than all those forces. He says that He is seated on the right hand seat and that we believers are qualified to sit there with Him. He goes on to say that we are celebrated with all the blessings that are present there. The overflowing grace was already upon us.
Tonight, about an hour or so before sunset, we came to our usual lookout point.
There was a beautiful sky. Bright enough sunshine made the sky's patterned shapes of clouds into a glory which is different from the blush of sunset alone.

今日のシアトルの日の入りはご覧の通りに厚い雲に閉ざされ夕日自体を見ることができませんでした。
この時期の日本の梅雨空を思わせるような見事な雨雲が空一面に広がっています。南のタコマ方面ではさらに黒い雲の層に覆われていて、おそらく雨が降っていることと思われます。
私のいる所ではほんの霧雨が日中降ったに過ぎません。
シアトルの雨季は冬ですので、この時期に雨が降らなくても心配は要らないのです。
世界的な異常気象が至るところで頻発してる昨今です。
永久平土に覆われている北極圏のシベリアが先日38度の高温を記録したそうです。
さらにアフリカ東岸部を荒らしまわったバッタの群れがアラビア海を越えてインドに上陸し、農作物への甚大な被害が出ているとのことです。
今年の日本の梅雨はどうでしょうか。
局地的豪雨による土砂災害で被害を受けるところがないよう祈るばかりです。一方雨が降らなくても水不足を心配し、農作物への影響もまた心配です。

今日も子供らとともに近所にある森林公園を散歩しました。
鳥のさえずりに耳を傾けながらそれに呼応するように小唄を歌いながら歩きました。
帰宅すると小腹が減っていたので早速娘がクッキーを焼いてくれました。さらにヴィーガン食の夕食までさっさと用意してくれたんです。余ったクッキーはメッセージを添えて私に持たせてくれました。
ワシントン州では未だ営業と言う事はできませんが、こうやって家族と触れ合うことによって与えられる幸せがあります。それを私は、「オキシトシン的幸福」と名付けています。これは他者との結びつきを深めることによって得られる安心感やぬくもりの感情、そして充足感をもたらす脳内ホルモンです。
他方仕事での成果や業績、昇進、金銭的獲得や名声などのいわゆる社会的成功によって得られる幸福感を「ドーパミン的幸福」と呼んでいます。
我々日本人は第二次大戦の敗戦以降から高度経済成長時代までこのドーパミン的幸福を追求して来たように思います。
「24時間働けますか」というモーレツ社員に勧めるエナジードリンクのコマーシャルがその価値観を代表していました。
バブルがはじけ誰もが成長を望めない時代となって、あの東日本大震災が起こりました。そこで私たちは価値観の変革が迫られ、「絆」を見直し始めたのです。
つまりドーパミン的幸福からオキシトシン的幸福への目覚めがあったといえます。
しかし長年社会で受け入れられまた家族で培われた価値観は一昼夜で変える事は難しいものです。そこで日々「セロトニン的幸福」を体験することによって正しい方向付けのできる基盤を得るのです。
それは昨日も書きましたが朝に太陽浴びることによって得られる脳内伝達物質であり、その時には前向きな自己肯定感が与えられ、自信や適応力を持って穏やかな気分を得るのです。
このセロトニン的幸福を維持するために最近企業ではヨガや瞑想、またマインドフルネスと言う活動を推奨しているところがあります。
我々クリスチャンにとってこのセロトニン的幸福を体験するのは神の前に静まり、聖書の御言葉によって神の私へのメッセージを聴きとると言う営みと言えましょう。
家族を養うと言う責任を感じている男性諸君にとってこのドーパミン的幸福しか知らないとしたら、このコロナ時代をどうやって生き延びていけるでしょうか。
今こそセロトニン的幸福とオキシトシン的幸福があることへの目が開かれていきたいのです。
今日の夕日は日輪の沈むところは完全に雲に閉ざされていました。
よってそこから光を見いだすことは出来なかったのですが、少し離れたところには雲の切れ目があり、その隙間からは赤い光線が輝き出ていました。
人にとっての幸福は、成果を上げて自分自身を証明することではありません。豊臣秀吉は臨終の床で「難波の事は夢のまた夢」と詠みました。何ができるできないにかかわらず、既にあなた自身を世界の創造者が証明して受容しておられることを知ることです。
そして受容されている者同士が深く結び合うことによって得られる安きがあります。
"わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、あなたがたも互いに愛し合うこと、これがわたしの戒めです。"
ヨハネの福音書 15章12節
We still can't restart most of business in Washington state, but we are able to focus on getting in touch with our families.
There is a happiness that can be given. I call it "oxytocinous happiness". This is the feeling of security, warmth, and contentment that comes from deepening our connection with others. It is a brain hormone that brings these feeling.
On the other hand, it's gained through so-called social successes such as job performance, achievements, promotions, financial gain and fame. I call this sense of happiness "dopaminergic happiness".
We Japanese have pursued this dopaminergic happiness from the time of our defeat in World War II to the era of rapid economic growth.
There was a commercial for an energy drink that asks a devoted employee, "Can you work 24 hours a day?”
It represented a value of this dopaminergic happiness.
When the economic bubble burst and no one could hope for growth, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. That's when we were forced to change our values, and we began to rethink our "bonds".
In other words, there was an awakening from dopamine happiness to oxytocin happiness.

本日の夕日は、雲を掻き分けるかのように、わずかの間隙をつくようにして太陽が顔を出してくれました。
それによって夕焼けの美しさが格段に大きく異なって来ます。
コロナに負けない免疫力を維持するために最も大切なのが睡眠だと思います。量質ともに。
私は8時間の睡眠時間の確保を心がけています。
しかし今朝はだいぶ寝過ごしてしまいました。
休日の月曜と言う油断もあったはずです。
朝、目覚めの時に起き上がる気力やその日に立ち向かう勇気を得るには、セロトニンと言うホルモンが脳内に抽出されなくてはならないとされます。そしてこのセロトニンは朝日を浴びることによって与えられるもののようです。そこで最も良いのが朝散歩であると教えられました。太陽光線を浴びて軽い運動することによって爽やかな目覚めが与えられるのです。
そんなことを多くの精神科医が指摘していますが、なかなか散歩に到るまでがきつい。
「太陽光線さえ浴びれば何とかなる」これを合言葉に明日の朝はベッドから這いずり出ようと気合を入れます。

本日ある方のご家族が大量に釣った甘エビのおすそ分けをいただきました。シアトル近郊の海でこれだけ立派なものが釣れるのですね。話には聞いていましたが、初めて目にして経験出来た産地産消の恵み。
2つのお皿にはそれぞれ同数の甘エビが載せられています。
一つは見ての通りの尾頭付き。もう一つはすべての殼を剥いで身だけとなったもの。こんなにも小さくなっちゃうんですね。
能登半島の金沢近郊で甘エビを賞味したのが私と甘エビとの最初の出会いでしたが、こちら米国でも遭遇できたことに感動です。
今日の夕焼けでも、初めての感動がありました。オリンピック山脈に夕日が沈んだ後に見出した、別の種類の夕焼けです。山脈向こう側ではまだ水平線上に太陽が顔を出しているはずです。そしてその後徐々に水没して行くのですが、その時に放つ赤い光線は左右広く水平線上に伸びて、真っ赤なゾーンを作っていたのです。いつもは山脈に太陽が沈むと即退散していたのですが、今回は息子に引きずられて延長戦をそうやって楽しむことができて、新たな発見につながりました。
ひとりでできること、ひとりで気がつくこと、ひとりだけで理解できることなんて笑っちゃうくらいに限られた小さな範囲に過ぎません。他者からの新たな見方や協力が得られると、新たな発見につながるものです。

One person's family shared a large amount of sweet shrimp that they caught today. I've heard about it, but it was the first time for me to eat it here. It’s also said that I did experience of local production and consumption.
Each of the two plates has the same number of sweet shrimp on it.
One comes with the tail and head, as you can see. The other one is all shelled off and only the body is left. They become so small.
My first encounter with sweet shrimp was when I tasted them in Noto peninsula near Kanazawa. So I'm thrilled to have encountered it here in US.
Today's sunset was also the first time I've been impressed with a different way.
It's a different kind of sunset that I found after the sun had set over the Olympic Mountains. On the other side of the mountains, the sun should still be on the horizon. And then the sun would be gradually submerging into the ocean and the red rays of light would stretch out wide on both sides of the horizon, and that were creating a bright red zone. Normally I would have left immediately when the sun set over the mountain range, but this time my son dragged me to overtime, so I enjoyed seeing it, and it led to new discoveries.

2日として同じものはない大自然の造形。
気温・湿度・風速・気圧などあらゆる気象条件を材料としてこの夕焼けが制作される。
私と言う人間もまた神の創造であると言う。
生まれた時代・家庭環境・学校・職業・国・言語など様々な要因が絡まって2人とないユニークな存在に造られたのが私たち。
他者と比べる必要は全くない。
夕日の造形美は人のする評価によって異なるけれど、創造者にとってどれも大切な瞬間であり、1日の終わりである。
"神は人をご自身のかたちとして創造された。神のかたちとして人を創造し、男と女に彼らを創造された。"

This sunset is created by using all kinds of weather conditions such as temperature, humidity, wind speed and pressure and so on.
Bible told that I, as a human being, am also a creation of God.
There are various factors such as birth era, family environment, school, occupation, country, language, etc., which make me unique. We were created to be the best of the best.
We don't have to compare ourselves to others.
The beauty of the sunset is different according to people's evaluation, but they are all important moments for the creator as the end of the day.
